Just received this email from Market Samurai -- read all the details here

Several days ago, Google made some significant technical changes to its services that make it impossible to reliably perform large volumes of free queries.

The Bad News…

With over 400,000 users now, tracking the ranks of your keywords on your behalf results in literally millions of Google searches every day. Google’s changes mean that it will be simply impossible for us to continue doing this on your behalf.

Haven't used their software in a long time but just shows how many can be affected every time Google makes a tweak in their business.
 


I think it's more likely they've decided not to support the software any longer and this is just an excuse. Sales probably slowed and endless support isn't worth it at this point.
 
damn im in the same boat, ms is useless for me now. they better be getting a resolution, even though I only payed that one time $99 fee I only had it for less then 4 months.

you got a point, no one forces anyone to work Google.
However... as i think all of us know Google is busy pretending that it is helping sone type of businesses and preventing others from working, while we all know that they are allowing plenty of BS to pass the gates, as long as they make money. Its the pretending that bothers me.
 
Shit I've only just bought it. Will have to give them a chance though as its the only thing that works on the Mac. The email I got said they hope to fix it in a few days.
 
The MS guys say that Google no longer allows them to scrape search results and keywords from them.
Mind you 400,000 users hitting Google servers over and over 24 hrs a day, that is millions and millions of queries daily.
Google is cleaning house with Panda 3.2 and the Adsense update in their results. Now this.

MS says that they are shopping for another source of ranking and keyword results. They are looking at Raven data but Raven is going to charge them up the ass.

Which means (and they tell you this) that MS is going to go to a monthly membership to cover the cost.

Basically, SEO Quake ad MS are fucked. If Google allows millions of search queries daily from these two (alone) to resume then it's up to Google.

I relied pretty heavily on MS for reports and niche finding. I would not be surprised if all ranking tools ended up fucked.

This is probably part of the March 1st privacy hose they are launching.
I don't think MS and others are coming back for 3 mos. at least maybe 6, maybe never.

That's not at all what it says. It says they are working on it and will most likely need to charge for the Google rank tracking service in the future.

Yeah. I have accepted that the server side stuff is worth the monthlies. And I hate monthlies. "Overhead walks on two legs." I just tried the Microsite Masters trial and it's slick enough. I like it for rank tracking. SerpIQ covers the competition as well as Market Samurai if not better. I do like Market Samurai's competition display. It was quicker to take in who had what on-page SEO and all the off-page info displayed in way that was easier to take in quickly.

In that blog post, they clearly say that after Yahoo Site Explorere went down, Market Samurai ate a $10,000 a month charge to get into Majestic SEO's data. Now they are saying they aren't going to eat the next hit and WILL be passing it onto the user.

And their solution to all of their competition data needs? Use Bing. :bigear: :xomunch: really?
 
So is MS rank tracker the only issue thing that's getting fucked? Will their KW tool and SEO comp still work? That's all I care about
