End of the rainbow
It must suck to be Obama and know that you are literally causing people to want to leave their friends and family behind just to get away from you and your bullshit. If I could only convince the wifey!

Afford it? There's lots of nice places with a great standard of living that are overall a lot cheaper than the US (unless you're talking about bumfuck kentucky or something)

Think that's bad?

Interactive map ---> FloatingSheep Map of Relative Amount of Post-Election Racists Tweets at GeoCommons

We collected tweets that contained the text "monkey" or "nigger" AND also contain the text "Obama" OR "reelected" OR "won". A quick, and very unsettling, examination of the search results revealed that this indeed was a good match for our target of election-related hate speech. We end up with a total of 395 of some of the nastiest tweets you might possibly imagine. And given that we're talking about the Internet, that is really saying something.

[2] To be precise, we took a 0.05% sample of all geocoded tweets in November 2012 aggregated to the state level.

[3] The formula for this location quotient is

(# of Hate Tweets in State / # of Hate Tweets in USA)
------------------------------------------------------------
(# of ALL Tweets in State / # of ALL Tweets in USA)

Quote:
Given our interest in the geography of information we wanted to see how this type of hate speech overlaid on physical space. To do this we aggregated the 395 hate tweets to the state level and then normalized them by comparing them to the total number of geocoded tweets coming out of that state in the same time period . We used a location quotient inspired measure (LQ) that indicates each state's share of election hate speech tweet relative to its total number of tweets. A score of 1.0 indicates that a state has relatively the same number of hate speech tweets as its total number of tweets. Scores above 1.0 indicate that hate speech is more prevalent than all tweets, suggesting that the state's "twitterspace" contains more racists post-election tweets than the norm.

So, are these tweets relatively evenly distributed? Or do some states have higher specializations in racist tweets? The answer is shown in the map below in which the location of individual tweets (indicated by red dots) are overlaid on color coded states. Yellow shading indicates states that have a relatively lower amount of post-election hate tweets (compared to their overall tweeting patterns) and all states shaded in green have a higher amount. The darker the green color the higher the location quotient measure for hate tweets.

A couple of findings from this analysis

  • Mississippi and Alabama have the highest LQ measures with scores of 7.4 and 8.1, respectively.
  • Other southern states (Georgia, Louisiana, Tennessee) surrounding these two core states also have very high LQ scores and form a fairly distinctive cluster in the southeast.
  • The prevalence of post-election racist tweets is not strictly a southern phenomenon as North Dakota (3.5),
  • Utah (3.5) and Missouri (3) have very high LQs.
  • Other states such as West Virginia, Oregon and Minnesota don't score as high but have a relatively higher number of hate tweets than their overall twitter usage would suggest.
  • The Northeast and West coast (with the exception of Oregon) have a relatively lower number of hate tweets.
  • States shaded in grey had no geocoded hate tweets within our database.
  • Many of these states (Montana, Idaho, Wyoming and South Dakota) have relatively low levels of Twitter use as well.
  • Rhode Island has much higher numbers of geocoded tweets but had no hate tweets that we could identify.

The average american relies on someone else to hand them a paycheck. The average american also doesn't speak very many languages...it can be costly to integrate and find employment in a new country.

It's obviously a different story for anyone on this forum.

The state has been employing several methods for years to slowly close the doors and prevent the cattle from roaming.

For instance, read this.

Berwick covers one of many tactics being used by the state. Saverin got a lot of folks' attention when he bailed, but fears of an exodus of productive people and capital have been brewing for awhile. And for good reason.

Erecting a massive wall, and threatening to shoot anyone who leaves was fine for Berlin. But subtler tactics are needed today to keep the sheep corralled - tactics that draw less attention and ire. For now. One day, the state's desperation to maintain its grip on power may lead to blood in the streets.

Wow. It's no surprise that there are still a lot of ignorant racist pieces of garbage out there, but seeing it laid out this way is really disturbing and sad. What's a real shock is that most of the dots seem to cover the "red" states. Who knew?

Second passport, Residency, Passport, Dominican republic, Paraguay, St. Kitts And Nevis, The European Union, Cambodia, Bulgaria, expatriot

This gives me the impression that it's not super cheap. At least these guys will take care of most of the details for you.

Only checked one place, St. Kitts & Nevis but found the following:

Upon approval of your application, registration fees are then due to be paid, which are $50,000 for the main applicant, $25,000 for spouse and each child under 18 years of age and $50,000 for each dependent over 18 years of age.

I think it would be safe to assume that this trend picks up around this time of year, every 4 years.

You don't pay taxes on future income once you renounce your US citizenship anymore.

It used to be like that but it hasn't been for some time. There is now an "exit tax" that treats any assets as being sold on the day you renounce your citizenship and you would pay capital gains, etc. taxes on those.

Once you do that you're free forever, and for most people this would be nothing more than just paying some normal capital gains taxes if they sell their house for more than they bought it for.

guys you can get away with alot BUT need to drip feed your migration if you know what I am saying

formulate a 18 month plan... then you physically leave and when your finally set up to where you want your new home base to be

you renounce from the embassy in your new country... first making sure you get legal residence and 2nd citizenship first..

which you can do. although it states you cannot

:)

welcome to the otherside.. come on in the water is fine

Not sure what you mean about "it states you cannot". If you inquire with the gov about renouncing your citizenship they will kindly tell you that you can't do it until you have first become a citizen of another country. At your meeting when you give up citizenship you actually have to show your 2nd passport or they won't even let you renounce your US citizenship.
