Slate ended up with their ad being shown 54 times on 4 different networks
for a total audience of 1.3 million. They received a little over 1,000 website visitors. Their total cost was $1,300. So approx $1.30 per visitor.

I can see this being implemented in so many ways, BETTER than what they did...I may be testing it out soon.

So something cool with big potential comes out and instead of testing it, and possibly making a fortune while not many ppl know about it... you decide to start a huge thread on Wickedfire so all your competition will know about it.

Fuck You, and all the other douche-bags blogging about it.

Amazingly cheap ... tv is dying ... read a story the other day about how, for the first time, Canadians spend more hours per week on the net than they do watching tv

Oh I'm going to test it.

The truth is, most people don't actually do the dirty work and TAKE ACTION. That's why I'm not worried about posting it here. Also: The video is already on Slate, Youtube, etc... this is very little more exposure than it already has.

Barrier to entry is a bit different than ripping someone else's ad, so this isn't outing anything. And this is a community where people are free to share ideas, so if you don't like it, get the fuck out. Ever see the massive Facebook and MySpace ads threads? WAAAY more specific than this shit.

Now I'll be more specific and help others out since I just feel like it - You could run late night chat/dating/hookup spots as commonly run on late night remnant TV inventory, but you just need to develop a good ad. Stock video and images may not work for everything, but it worked for 5 hour energy when they started.

Pretty sure Slate has a slightly larger readership than wickedfire forums. I saw the article on the front page of reddit yesterday, so it's not like some big secret. Most of the people here just read and never actually do anything, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

Cite?

Maybe in canada, but the US has directv, comcast, pay per view events, box office movies, along with hundreds of highly viewed channels. I don't think it's dying here.

I think it was a Nielsons study.

Can't speak for the US, but I barely watch tv anymore and the same goes for most people I know as well. Especially ... the last couple years I notice that a lot of shows air a new episode every second week and re-runs every other week to save money.

Anyone with an adwords account already knows about Google TV ads. Except for those guys who got their adwords account banned. :( Was it really worth it running a google cash offer on google? LOL.

Go at it, guys. Make those commercials. If a dick in an auto dealership can dress like a fat pimp while forcing his illegal alien employee to dress up as a blue genie and get leads... so can you.

I want to see someone make the television equivalent of "Chedda gets cheddar".

Huh? This was introduced 3-yrs ago... nothing new. Anyone who has ever logged into their Adwords account were well aware of it.
