Google's new phone will be $99 / unlocked

Made the switch from Verizon to AT&T for the iPhone. Worst mistake I've ever made (as far as the carrier goes).

Dropped calls, outages, data issues.... the list goes on.

As much as I'm thinking of picking it up, first gens of any phone normally leave something to be desired. Will wait and see.

Standing in the middle of Times Square in NYC i couldnt get a signal with my Iphone, Times Fucking Square, like the epicenter of NYC and couldnt make calls or receive data. And this kept happening all over NYC and NJ. Switch back to Verizon and got a Motorola Droid and im loving life again. Hated to let my Iphone go, but reliable service is a must with my bsuiness and i was just missing too many important calls with ATT.

Message to Verizon and Apple, Put the god damn Iphone on the Best Network, ATT Sucks

While I hate giving Google more info, I will probably upgrade to this new phone.

AT&T in Philadelphia is shit, especially if you are data-intensive (aka checking your stats). I love the iPhone, but as long as it maintains exclusivity to the AT&T network, I won't buy one.

T-Mobile is a better carrier because I travel often, including to Europe, and their international presence is better than any other carrier here. Hell, my mom lives in the podunk Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and I can still get T-Mobile there (and her Verizon lines work well), but AT&T stops coverage about 15 miles away.

I guess the GSM vs CDMA just depends on where you live.. GSM works great in my area.. verizon was my first carrier and the service was absolute dog shit..

Oh noes, teh Google'z is collectin' yer datas!

Please...

They will get to know their customers even more and provide them with even better products tailored to their specific needs. That will be just terrible.

HAH, ok. keep throwing all your deets at the "truth machine" - let's see what happens in 5 years.

i'm not much of a paranoid conspiracy theorist, but google freaks me out. between the statements of their CEO and the amount of data they're endeavoring get on people - i'd just rather not be completely plugged in. as i type this in chrome... sigh...
