Got myself a dog today

Welcome to the club, bro- you made an incredibly smart decision to join the wienerdog world.

I firmly believe EVERYONE should have a wienerdog- the world would be a much nicer place, lol. They're awesome companions.

Here's my bud, Wilhelm Von Sprechenzieguth (Willie):

CAPTION: Make Me A Sammich, Bitch!

small update: careful rearrangement of letters in my username here (and my real last name) leads us to have developed Chuk's full name to be: Chuk D

I'm gonna get him a 9mm soon. Dude slept like a champ, woke me up to do his business outside. He's awesome so far, I'm even more stoked.

Love all your pups guys, dogs are the shit.

no but srsly i do have 2 chihuahas under 4lbs both 1-2 years old and they spend all day training, fighting, swatting, running, doing drills etc. they really go hard all day. then they sleep 18 hours str8.

Why didn't you opt to get a puppy? You would be closer to it. It would be closer to you for sure. It's a lot of work sometimes (training), but it is worth it imo.

I was thinking about it, but I have a soft spot for rescuing dogs (the previous owners had rescued this guy like 5 days before I bought him, so it's a rescued dog). he's already housebroken and he's cuddling with me 24/7 already so I think we'll be alright in terms of getting attached to each other.

Dogs form attachments to their owners quickly. Getting a puppy doesn't mean the animal will feel closer to you as an adult. By age 2, a dog adopted at twelve months should feel as close to his owner as a dog raised from 8 weeks (other variables remaining the same).

At dchuk: hope to see more pics of your pooch in this thread. :)

^ Is that some kind of killer fighting dog? Are you one of those people?

Congrats. Dachshunds are nice dogs. Make sure you're careful of his back though, they have a tendency to injure them. My grandma's had to be put down after it jumped off a sofa in fright during a thunderstorm and dislocated one of its vertebrae.

It's best if you train them not to jump on furniture, couches, beds etc when they're young for that reason, so when they get older, they don't do things that risk injury.

He's a one year old dachshund named Chuk:

Nice friend you got there buddy, but I don't see why you had to embarrass him like that, though.

Taking a picture of your dog hugging a phallus-shaped furry thing in his sleep, probably hinting to the fact that he's gay, is not aaaight.

You're just one step away from this:

LOL, not at all. That's my boy zeus. He's a saint.

Are you one of those people that thinks every pitbull is evil? :P

I am one of those people who think pitbulls are just more dangerous than other dogs, not because of their agression but because that when they snap they do so much damage. It's probably a cool dog, but lettuce be real tea, many pitbull owners are losers who buy the dog for the ego boost. Not saying that's you of course.

I can't disagree that they can do some damage. However it's up to us, the owners to raise the dog properly. A well trained, well brought up pitbull is one of the best, most loving dogs you can own.

That's probably true, but all dogs can and do snap and I personally wouldn't want a dog around that could kill with kids around. It does happen and you rarely hear about smaller, less agressive dogs killing children though most dog bites are from labradors and golden retrievers. Basically, if you have a pittbull it simply can't bite, not even once or there will be huge consequences.

Not hating on your dog though, I'm sure it's a great companion.
