Hey guys,

Just taking a break from recording some MyReviewPlugin video tutorials (cause the family got home, made a big racket, no quiet to record) and working on one of my next products. Indeed, it's almost complete, but I realized its missing something important to set it ahead of the existing (weak) competition: form creation.

I'm not going to tell you what the product is yet, speculate away, but here's the bulk of this thread: GravityForms is released under the GNU GPL (meaning I can distribute it, modify it, do whatever), and honestly, its rather unspectacular as a product, but it's usefulness is awesome. I want to create a free fork of GravityForms specially targeted to affiliate marketers.

I'll be charging for support, but giving it away for free for use. I think that's a fair model. This might change in the future, but at least for launch time that's how it'll be.

My plan so far is to integrate geotargeting and relative date-type stuff (as in, prefilling forms, etc.) and integrate with mailing list managers out of the box. Obviously some sort of pre-filling forward would be a great feature too (as in, users fill out a form on your site, and it either posts directly to another site or pre-fills the fields on another site) for affiliate marketing.

I'm looking for general opinions on this plan before I take the plunge and more importantly: feature requests. I intend to contract a lot of the actual development work to another developer, so MyRP development will still take place full time, etc.

Mark.

Awesome! I'll be stoked to see how this comes out. I can't think of anything to contribute right this second but I'll keep checking in and chime in if I do.

Easy multi page forms with short codes (wordpress and php short codes) to easily be able to place the different parts of the forms wherever.

Drag and drop css positioning of form elements would be a big help. Add a couple of presets to that for allowing multi column forms. Multi column forms are kind of a pain and I don't really see a solution for allowing them anywhere else.

Built in support for infield labels: In-Field Labels jQuery Plugin

Varied types of form validation. Custom tooltip explanations, field highlighting.

Better options for saving form data, flat file, database, posting options. The ability to save data in multiple ways at the same time. (Such as in my own database while posting it off somewhere externally at the same time)

Thanks :)
