Neither of these are great but both are well worth the rental. Not a whole lot of action in either one, as they're much more cerebral, character study films that happen to have war as a backdrop.

Beaufort (Israeli)

Stalingrad is an awesome show! If you like it and you speak/understand German try to get yourself a copy of the mini-tv series "Unsere Muetter/Unsere Vaeter" that was just shown in Germany.

Cross of Iron is great. Even though ironically I liked the sequel a bit better.

Die Bruecke is one of the earliest German movies made after WW2 and is brutal to watch. Not so much the special effects but the story in itself.

Downfall is one of the best films I've ever seen.

"The Bunker" is pretty much the same movie but with Anthony Hopkins playing Hitler. Not nearly as good as Bruno Ganz, imo... but still pretty good.
