One recommendation for newbs here who are serious is maybe do what I did. Lurk and read as much as you can here for about 2 months before making a post. Well, maybe not necessarily that long.
But by that time you will be completely familiar with the forum and have tried some things already. You will be familiar with some techniques and resources. After that time you can probably even make some contribution and avoid posing questions that have been asked a dozen times before.
Just my 2 cents.
