Guy lives on zero dollars a day.

Here is a related story with some great anecdotes.

Doing More With Less - Cover Story - Washington City Paper

I’ve been on unemployment three times in the past six years. Each time was better than the last, and each time I stayed on until the last cent was exhausted. I didn’t even try to get a job; it was a paid vacation.
...
I guess if you have kids to support or a lot of debt to pay down, $400 a week is probably not a livable income. So I hope buying shoes on credit and not pulling out was worth being chained to a desk for the rest of your life.
etc.

It was an interesting read, but I don't think that kind of lifestyle would appeal to very many people. Having to struggle for (or hunt) every meal and living in a cave isn't my idea of a good time haha. We all dream of private islands, seclusion, and escaping society, but going as far as he did... eh... I'll just pay my bills, eat food I buy at grocery stores, and have a roof over my head. :) But, hey, to each his own!

And hey. If you can make enough money you can buy your own island and go live like a wild animal for however long you like and when it gets old (as someone else mentioned it would) then you can go back to reality I guess. I know that kind of goes against this guy's point but whatever. I never understood the judo/christian self flagellation life style anyway.

He's confusing money with other larger issues he has beef with. Disavowing money is like disavowing water. In of itself, it is a neutral necessary tool that is needed for the smooth functioning of societies. It only takes "evil" dimensions when people misunderstand it.
