Have a WP site with ads? Hate AdBlock ?

you know what? just put in your terms that its illegal to use adblockers when visiting your site. log the ips and sue everyone for damages

I use adblock and when I get that message I just backup and go somewhere else. I have never been to a site where it was so important that I get in that I am willing to shut the adblock off. I seriously doubt I am the only one that does this so if you want to chase away visitors it is a good tool. There are way too many sites out there to be putting up with those kinds of demands.

I agree. I just leave the site rather than disable adblock.

I agree with what you say and I do the same thing. However, does it really matter to the site if the person leaves or stays if all you are worried about is revenue? If there is no other monetization efforts on the site, does it really matter if they leave your content site? All that person will do is use the bandwidth of your site and you will never be able to make money off of them. So if you enable this, you may gain some revenue lost before. Worse case, you make no extra money. Nothing to lose really.

Just a thought.

noob mentality = traditional ads are the only way to make money from visitors.

You're going to chase away visitors that could potentially:

- Sign up for your mailing list?
- Buy your product directly?
- Click your affiliate links?

Go get a day job bro. You don't have the mentality for this.

See the above post. Chasing away visitors just because they do not want a bunch of ads getting in the way is small short term thinking. Is saving that small amount of bandwidth a good enough reason to lose the chance of ever monetizing some of your visitors? Personally I would say no it is not.

Fuck you if that is directed at me. You need to read my post again. I said if that is the only way they monetize their site, then that is fine. Some people who just do this on the side don't care about optimizing their ads and mailing people on a daily basis. Some people do just build their sites for traditional ads and that is what this plugin is for. If that is all they want to do, then go ahead and use it. They have nothing to lose. I agree they should have more then traditional ads on their site, but most people don't.

How many people are going to return to your content site that they randomly found on Google next year when you decide to start using a mailing list or doing affiliate reviews? Nobody.

Those visitors that are visiting you now have less then a 1% chance of returning to your site. If they visit you now and all you have is Adsense on your site and they have Adblock, you won't make money on them. Will they magically visit again? Probably not.

So maybe your content sounds like what they are looking for but they have Adblock. Now, you have the potential to make money where you wouldn't make money before. If they disable it, they may make you some money. If they don't disable it, you won't make money. Same situation as before.

Sure, these sites should be optimized further so you can make money other ways. But they are not for a reason. If the owner doesn't want to mess with it, let them alone. They install this and they might make some money from it.

And the bandwidth thing was just a little joke. I know the traffic is negligible, but it is showing you that you incur something negative from people having Adblock. That is all.

lol wat. i dont use this plugin, just telling others about it.

u mad bro?

The people who disable adblock to enter the site will have no intention whatsoever of clicking adverts once inside. You don't jump from blocking the ads to using the ads.

So they'll still be 'stealing bandwidth' for all practical purposes, just like all the other users who can see the ads but have never clicked one.

All you'll accomplish is to piss the users off, so they're less likely to bookmark/share/recommend your site to others who may not be running adblock.
