Healthcare bill requires posting of calories

i think this is a good thing....wayyyy too many fat people in america. its not so bad in hawaii. i was in texas and part of the south last year...and damnn there's alot of fat fucks. i saw shapes in texas i never thought could exist on a human body. its gross.

not really sure that telling people the calories will stop them from eating it but at least it makes them more aware.

how will this affect small businesses that can't necessarily get a lab to test all of their food? is it the sum of the ingredients?

Im so fucking angry.

I will never reach my acutane. It was 5000$ for a full round (Thanks to a monopoly and lack of free markets), i doubt i will get it thanks to rationing. I almost feel like im in hell now. I was going to be able to get what i worked for. But now its all over.

Do you know how democracy works in a free enterprise system? You let the consumer decide. If a "majority" of people are offended that you're not posting calorie counts, then those same people can choose not to eat in your restaurant. Eventually those businesses that don't comply w/ what consumers want will go out of business. But either way, you still have a choice of whether or not you eat there.

You know what would actually save more money in health care expenses? Make that skanky girl at the club wear a t-shirt that says "crabs" - or "gonorrhea" on it.

is this a joke? how is not informing people of what their eating not a good idea? jesus christ dude

I think its fine to have the info available either by request, sheets or etc, but I think its a bit far to require that the menu board be cluttered with all that data right off the back.

How is the nutrition info suppose to be supplied from lets say, a sit down restaurant? I didnt read the article.

defelice your a dumbass.

I dont know how in 2010, a person doesnt know that mcdonals isnt healthy. HOW!?
People are lazy that is the root of the source, you have a choice eat good foods, or eat shit foods and die when your 50. Are you even an IM? Seriously?

if you're too lazy/stupid to figure out what you (should/n't) put into your body in this day and age where all the info is available, then let natural selection take its course.. retarded.

hahaha.. judging by your close-to-retarded threads and more despicable posts, I would say its safe to say if you make more money than me, then you are a shining example how any dumb fuck can succeed with IM. Where in the fuck did I mention mcdonalds? Find where and ill paypal you enough money to buy whatever WaFo ebook you please. People on this forum can vouch for me. You are just a random fucktard.

Besides this, I am impartial to the actual healthcare bill, including this. It is obviously not enough for people to make the right educated decisions for themselves when it comes to eating healthy (especially here in texas) whether they have the willpower to do whats right/healthy for them or not. For the people who actually look at nutritional info and base their meals on this, this will be beneficial. For people who dont give a fuck about what their putting into their system, this will have no effect, and they will subsequently get paved the fuck over.

My best friend lives in fortworth i go down every summer, hell mabey i will see you at the sonic with your fatass.

In a "Free Society" (Remember those words) a person has to act like an adult. To many times do i see young adults who are my age 18-19 go out make bad decisions. The problem is society says your to young to make your own decisions. The problem is they can but its hard, so anything hard we have to say no to because were a nanny state.

You can lead a horse to water but you cant make him drink. We spend thousands of dollars to stop runing tv ads, doing programs like "DARE", (remember that failure) sending police in schools to scare kids, but yet all this work doesnt stop kids from smoking pot. They do it anyways. If people dont mistakes they will never grow, thus having a weak society.

Remember when i was bitching about how DP indians were stealing my work? The WF responds was "Stop Bitching Life Is Hard". They were right, i need to stop bitching, and since then i have made changes, and i made 65$ last night for a few minutes of work, and i get about that same type of money each day.

The point is this, the best advice i got on this forum was "Grow Up" & "Stop Bitching Life Is Hard". You teach that more to people, i garentee life will be easier for all of us.

Also + Rep me for EPIC response!

Well at least it's kinda relevant.

It always confuses the hell out of me that Americans put up with the politicians adding unrelated shit onto bills.

They can't be bothered to pay attention to all of that with 'Dancing With The Stars' on so they just watch 5 minutes of Keith Olberman for their daily injection.

... and here we are!

I don't have any problem with restaurants posting calories. You go to the websites of many restaurants and you can find the calories posted. Some cities require calories posted at the point of purchase, but give small, independent restaurants a pass I think.

What's the problem with this? It merely allows people to make informed choices, but doesn't forbid anything at all. I remember going to a NYC Wendy's and seeing a selection of chicken sandwich types, and choosing the lower calorie variety due to the posted info. Nobody twisted my arm, and I was able to make an informed choice on the spot.

The problem is simply that it's now a federal law... something that really isn't the federal governments mandate. Local and State governments have the "right" to pass crap like this but not the federal government.

wow you guys really do need any excuse to complain about the bill. actually this is a good idea since it may stop a few people from eating crap every day -> lower costs to the taxpayer.

ya its by no way a good bill and doesn't make sense in a lot of points but come on.. complaining about this?

Posting calories is a good thing. So many chain restaurants have been serving salads that are easily 1000 - 2000+ calories, yet people eat them because they think salads are healthy. Posting calories will give the consumer the information they need to make an educated choice on what they put into their bodies, even if that means not caring and downing the 2600 bacon cheeseburger anyways.
