Hey Guys,

I need a way to make Adsense think my site is NOT ABOUT ONLINE DEGREES! I have Bachelor in my domain name, and all I see are online degree ads. My site is about surviving as a single man. It will have good content, but is it worth developing if I have a .0001 CTR because someone hit the left mouse button when they sneezed by accident?

The site is setup so that basicall EVERY ADVERT besides stupid online degrees should convert. Ringtones, Boobs, Computers, Video Games, Gadgets, WHATEVER. Young males click on damn near anything.

Thanks,

Josh

I just checked out your site and the google ads seemed to be relevant. Nice placement. :D That google search at the end of "How to food shop" was a nice touch.

A couple things... why not make your google ads bigger, remove the borders and make the title text the same #COLOR as the links on the rest of your page?

Also, not sure where it is... but there is a way to put certain <adsense tags> around the text that you want to highlight </adsense tags> as being the most relevant to your site. That way, adsense knows where to look when relating ads to your site. This could be hard if you're using a wordpress type page where the main homepage will change often.

Play with the title tag, keywords, and h1 headings until you get just what you're looking for. And, talk to some friends on AIM or Yahoo or MSN to refresh the page and look at the ads for you as well. Or ask again here. I saw one relevant ad and one online degree ad. I didn't see the link unit until I browsed the whole page and went back to the top. I'm guessing this is at the top of your code, too... so, they are probably the highest paying ads. I might try removing these and place a full horizontal right there at the top below the header.

Just my personal opinion but I'm no expert... goodluck

Tri,

I don't look for experts, if someone calls themself an expert the're usually a jack ass. Your input was valuable, I made the changes you suggested. I also changed my search to a google search product.

I also added some meta information such as keywords and whatnot to see if that helps. If you get the chance, check it out tell me what you see. I'm seeing more college adds than ever.

Everyone else,

If you know how to adsense> tag stuff, LET ME KNOW! I couldnt find anything about it in the google help other than we're proprietary and awesome etc etc etc.

Thanks,

Josh

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

your keyword rich content that you want relevent ads showing up for

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

^^Yep use section targeting like suggested above. Also put in some meta keywords and descriptions in your headers. Use the section targeting 'ignore' function too, to ignore all other text and just focus in on 1 paragraph with relevant keywords.

Sweet, I put in meta keywords and descriptions last night, Im going to use the targeting tags

You guys are a wealth of info THANK YOU! I'll see if I cant put together a word press primer as a way to give back.
Thanks

Josh

I just checked your site. You're right, most of the ads are about getting degrees, except one at the top about Bachelorette Parties and on the right side, with the google ad text links: The Bachelor, ABC Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Bachelor Rome, Bachelors of Arts.

I'm just starting with AdSense myself, and have had similar problems. But maybe if you put in more content, you might have better results.
The food page, about the guy, and the make chicks think you're rich page have different ads, though.

Good luck. I'll have to try those ideas out myself.

I added the Google Adsense tags and I dont see any change really. You guys see anything different? I added them a few days ago, any change should have happened by now.

I may have to give up on this niche
