Hoarders. Who watches?

OK so I watched one episode last night (Comcast has A&E On Demand, btw!). My favorite part was when some big black guy took this kid's play house and smashed it with a sledgehammer as the kid watched on and cried. I expected the kid to throw a total shit-fit, but he handled it pretty well. It was brutal.

Holy shit, that's nuts. Glad I didn't have to walk in on that one.

I had to go to a house one time for a residence check (neighbors called in and said that the kids were basically living in an unfit home). Long story short, the lady who lived there had a hoarding/shopping problem. Her house wasn't dirty, but there was stuff everywhere. Floor to ceiling, all brand new or used maaaaybe once. The living room had a good dozen printers in it.

Came to find out the lady was off her meds, got more. She did this a couple times. Ended up getting confused and taking her medication from each of the 9 places she kept it, ODing thoroughly every day lol.

I would say my Mom is a borderline hoarder. She's not as bad as the people on the show, but she definitely shares some traits. But the people on that show take it to an extreme. I remember one show where this lady had cans of food that were bulging. Anyone knows that if a can is bulging that it is probably infected with Botulism and yo throw it out. Well, she refused to throw it out saying that she has an immunity to all the worlds illnesses and that she can eat it. Her 4 fridges were all filled with rotting food. There was rotting food all over her house. It was amazing. I watch that show from the sheer "trainwreck" factor of "I have to watch, it's so horrible but I have to watch."

Simple cure: for every item they hoard, they must shallow a fistful of their hot, steamy shit.

I just LOLed at the mental image of opening one of those bulging, diseased cans.
