Hostgator Sucks Review - Scam, Fraud, Shit, Crap, Rating

How much traffic can it handle? We are using rackspace for shit that we need to guarantee uptime but the boss has hundreds of domains at bluehost he keeps trying (or has me trying) to host apps from and it's terrible so I need something in between.

He's never heard of subdomains so he has literally a hundred versions of whatever project/campaign idea he comes up with.

A couple projects need tens of thousands of requests per second for short bursts of time.

Since he pays you; why don't you clue your boss in about sub domains?

Also greenleaves, I swear you made a Host Gator thread a few months ago too. Why didn't you leave then?

I still had a few things on Hostgator back in August, but I left immediately after that shitstorm happened. Migration was a snap. Don't make this harder than it is.

This looks pretty good, but for me my biggest hurdle is that I've been using cPanel since forever. If I were to switch, what would be some things that I should know?

DigitalOcean has tons of free and easy to use tutorials covering the basics like virtual hosts/domains, databases, etc:

https://www.digitalocean.com/community/

You can also just lease a cpanel license for about $15 per month for the VPS license

https://www.licensepal.com/products/cpanel.php
https://www.buycpanel.com/
and others...

If you're coming from hostgator and want to put a bunch of wordpress/druptal/etc installs on a single server then add the sofaculous addon for an extra $2 per month.

Some distributors like licensepal will install it for you for free, but it's something you could also do yourself:

lol @ you if you aren't using it

BTW: I stopped using HG as soon as they were stingy about P202.

For shared hosting, I'd recommend inMotion.

Although...shared hosting isn't good for most internet marketing purposes.

A VPS or dedi server should be the minimum.

jesus my hostgator sites are down AGAIN. holy sh1t.

the sad thing is I switched over because I was sick of bad service from Ipage. now I find out they're both EIG haha.

Switching soon!

Fuck HG, I moved to KnownHost.com and they are fucking rocking and rolling. Their SSD plans are awesome and my site is faster than ever.

Knownhost.com I love thee

So glad i switched to liquidweb after the first outage. Shame they're going to shit after EIG buyout. Their support was always top notch.

Hearing about Hostgator problems made me realize I'm glad 1and1 rejected my polite request to end up business with them. At least I don't have to go through irritating customer service. 1and1 simply doesn't have one.

+1 for LiquidWeb. They are priced REALLY high but when you call them they answer, and solve your issue with you RIGHT THERE ON THE PHONE 9x out of 10 if you want.

For VPS, I've had great experiences with Berman Hosting. Great performance, great uptime so far, customer service is meh 3 stars, like 24 hours. But the price is right Bob.

This +10

I have a couple of hostgator shared accounts left for bullshit sites I don't have time to move, but I canceled my VPSs with them and went to Namecheap for VPS. All my new projects go on Digital Ocean now.

Plus you can get private networking between your servers within the same datacenter and other good features. Can't go wrong.

Throlson (with Hostgator shirt) VS. Hogan

Almost has me sold back on Hostgator. Throlson is making that gator look good with that faint herringbone black Gino Valentino jacket on top. I almost want to go back to them now so my service can be out all the time and they can suspend my shared accounts for three hours when someone runs a scan on one of my sites and causes the cpu to spike for 10 seconds.
