Hosting Question

I currently get free unlimited hosting through my friend, and it says his account has been suspended when i try and log on to any of my sites.... which probably means he has spent all his money on beer and hasnt got enough to pay for the monthly hosting premium, lol is there anyway of retrieving data saved on the server or have i completely lost it?
And is there a way of sending the data from one hosting company to another?

Also does anyone recommend a good and cheap hosting provider?

You might be able to pay for another months hosting and have them restore your site. Frankly I keep everything backed up on my local computer.

sure you can move everything to a new host, to get all the data you have there you can ask the host to provide you a backup or if they say they won't do it you can renew for a month and get your stuff

You should really consider keeping updated backups of everything (thing that I don't do myself....bad habit)
I use hostgator now and I'm really satisfied with them
I have used hostingzoom in the past and they're good as well (but I had a small reseller plan so I can't really tell you how their standard plans are, support is good and they're nice to deal with)
