Hotel/travel offers

Anybody here have luck with travel/hotel offers? I'm looking at running a couple of specific recruits for hotel accommodations at premium properties internationally. I've lined up display and media buying options already, and I'm wondering how effective the campaign could be for PPC and email affiliates.

The offer's historically had a ~3% conversion rate and an ADR (avg room rate) of ~$500. I'm expecting to run the traffic to a sales page and then link out with a coupon link or daily deal to the advertiser's reservation page. I'd experiment with payout options, but expect to settle on a sliding CPA with an upfront payout for the initial registration and a backend payout on the confirmed stay (confirmation is an offline process that takes up to a week). I'll have budget for some upfront media for the offer for betting a baseline, but the offer ultimately needs to back out on a CPS basis. Looking for ~300 confirmed leads/day initially. We'll have the right to remarket and recontact the list we build from the sales page.

My concern is how to best structure the upfront CPA, how best to screen for purchase intent from the sales page, and how to estimate conversion rate for the registered PPC traffic that we link out to the advertiser's page. This advertiser is wide open technically, so we've got a lot of options with them. About the only technical restriction is that they can't support custom phone linkes for click-to-call campaigns.

Any chance there's a rule-of-thumb for something like this? Or anybody with experience with best-practices with anything to share?

bro I run ppc for hotel room bookings around the world and I have no fucking clue what your talking about.

why are you doing hotel on a cpa basis. why not just do it on a % cps basis and keep it simple. make a lander only if its a special noteworthy hotel (the ivy, bellagio, hard rock etc)

Hey WL,

I have been in the tourism space for quite some time. My partner sold his website hotelreservations.com for a grip to Travelocity 6 years ago and we are currently owners of TicketSizzle.com.

Contact me so we can chat on the phone about this and your ideas.

I'll run the offer on a straight CPS basis, too. That's straightforward, though.

It's a noteworthy property. I wanted to do the sales page to generate a list for re-marketing with coupons and daily deals, and for eventually expanding the vertical to include other noteworthy properties ww. Also, I wanted a simpler submission form for some of the traffic sources I'll be recruiting from, but don't know if I could make it back out at a high enough rate to be worth the trouble.

I definitely will. Thanks.
