Still was funny to see her getting her eaten out on the phone with her dad... wait that was weird nvm.
I stopped after the first episode in the second season. They spent the whole first season showing this conniving man who never does his own dirty work. He always has handlers do it. Then, during the first episode, the Senator walks into a crowded subway full of cameras, pushes a woman into a train, and then just walks away. Ruined anything that might come after it.

Except for that time in the first season when he put down a certain political figure. Sure seemed like he was doing some of his own dirty work then.
They fucked up the ending. Why would they have him "complete level 5000" as the ending? They could have easily delayed it and left it as a cliff hanger.
Where do they go from here? Have him nuke a country? The worst part is the writers knew they had a 3rd season when they filmed it.
I still liked it overall. But this season was a definite let down. Hopefully they get back some of that magic for the next go-round
I think season 3 will be all about Frank's downfall. The nextflix show is based on an older UK version with the same title. So you can get an idea about where the show is going.

I think they'll make something happen. The writers are definitely above normal sitcom level, so they'll come up with a twist. To some degree, this show is a wolf in sheep's clothing. They essentially say that American politics is rotten to the core and political influence is gotten by manipulation, money and outright violence. Incredible that they've gotten away with it and people just accept it almost as truth - which it probably is.
If they have balls, they'll turn the tables and make the viewer feel ashamed of his ignorance.
It's not The Wire level great, so who knows though.
So this quote inspired me to check out the wire. I am starting at season 1 and am about 5 episodes in. My question is when does it get to the level of "great"? I am having a real hard time getting into The Wire. Do I need to skip a season or 2?
People jerk off over the wire because its something that should have been great.... But was just ok. Characters, especially the po po are weak as fawk
Stick with it, there's a reason it's almost universally adored.
Contratian-boy wants to say it was "just ok" but that's like saying the sweet love of another man is "just ok".
The Wire is essentially the Greek gods (the police/politicians) against humans (everyone in the game). It's also a slow build with an excellent payoff.

It's rare that anyone likes The Wire season 2 because the take such a turn with it in the different stories they uncover - still essential to the story. Season 3 and 4 will blow your mind.
People enjoy it for the acting, but the big one is remarks and storytelling on society. By the end of the show you see how it all relates back to poverty and the people you started the show with. I think they cover every aspect of how groups relate to each other... you will see the dealers/cops, the people funding the dealers/cops, how other areas like schools/kids are affected by this funding/crime, and the 'winners' and 'losers' of the game -- to then show you how it all repeats itself.
Then there's Omar

so basically the the .gov funds the drugs, corrupt cops and politicians, the uncle gets killed (or incarcerated) and then the some pawn moves up and takes the kingpins place. Kids die from drive-by's and overdosing. Is this pretty much the gist of the story line? The acting and story telling is weak as fuck in season 1. I will try to stick with it and binge the shit out of it for a couple days.
