Yo,

how did you guys create your company's name? I am about to create a new software development company but I'm not sure how I should name it. :)

After 2 hours of checking domain names I have to say that every freakin´ domain is taken! I don't want to end up with something like www.iusdfnfdsd-Software.com !

Don't worry about it, if that's how you're picking what to name a company it'll probably fail anyways.

Seriously.

The name's i had in mind are all taken. - I even tried to buy some of those but at the end it wasn't worth it.
However, maybe some of you have some good advices. Cheers :)

Honestly I used name generators online. Most of my business is done with companies that know me by name so my company name wasn't too important. Throw things on the end of it like: Marketing, Media, Web Assets, Enterprises, etc...

Here's some Web 2.0 name generators that might spur some inspiration:

Here's a good blog that goes over a lot of domain name/company generators.

12 Excellent Tools for Picking a Domain Name

Pick a 5 or 6 letter brandable name. There's still plenty not registered or for sale for cheap. I might have one you might be interested in. PM me.

Whatever you're doing should solve a problem. Consider naming your company after the problem or line of business it's in...

Cheeres cheshire, the tools made me look into some word lists and I finally came out with some idea's I like.

Even though those tools are pretty limited, that was the right hint!

There is some software company named something ridiculous.(like blue monkey or some shit like that) they tried going for those keywords but in the end they wanted to have brand recognition (read it on some article, when i was also looking for a name)

Build a brand forget EMD's they sound terrible when trying to promote your company.

Go unique. Think Apple.

I finally came out with a color and a software related keyword. Sound's pretty smooth and I really like it.
But still, almost every common color+animal or animal+color (dot com) is taken. Insane :)
