How did you first learn of Affiliate marketing?

What? Where's your spammy ebook link? Could this actually be a real legitimate first post?

I try : ). I've been reading WF for a few months now, and today I finally got a campaign profitable, so I guess I feel somewhat worthy of posting now (and I registered a name I would actually post with).

It only took me like 20 tries....something clicked yesterday (Fri. 13th, ironically). WF rules. MLM = Uberlame.

Found JohnChow.com by accident which led me to Shoemoney which lead me to AOJon.com which led me here. This is still one of the better sources around.

was looking at some website about the AMEX Black Centurion card and saw a link to Amit Mehta's blog (preparing to be flamed for this)

I'm having some problems making the connection. Amit Mehta -> pixie dust -> WickedFire?

that's how I learned of affiliate marketing. after that I've spent the past few weeks reading up on this and being in theblackinkproject.com, then found a link here on that zac johnson's blog because he wrote a review for an affiliate site without being a member, and someone here called him out for being an asshole. knew I was in good company, and this seems to be the most honest affiliate forum I've hit yet

Hi everyone, I think that internet marketing can be carried on various ways and that there are many areas that can go with that. It depends on where you have your interests. It is just that profits are galore in each and every area and it’s up to you to judge the right one.

oh okay

I started my initial affiliate program with Ibill. When those bastards went under I was quick to alert all my affiliates and immediately switch to CCbill. I've been with them successfully for 5 years now without any problems.

It might be helpful to sign up for an affiliate program and see what you like/don't like about how the program is organized before creating one of your own.

nah dog

It was introduced to me by a good friend that didn't know computers at all, but he new business and had a product that converted like crazy. He showed me a few product targeted niche sites that were placing across all the top search engines & directory's at the time for the many different keyword terms. This was about 10years ago. Man time goes by fast.

i read the Gauher Chaudhry PPCFormula sales letter, that got me excited enought to research everything about aff marketing, btw it was the last year.

Strangely enough, I didn't even have a computer. I saw a newspaper ad for a porn site with an affiliate programme. I did some investigation in an Internet Cafe, then bought a computer and got to work. After a year's hard work, I had made precisely ZILCH. So I quit that program, and signed up for many affiliate programs over the next couple of years. Then I made the massive sum of $80 with a bulk email program (I didn't know any better then), but wasn't paid because I was accused of spamming.

It's taken a long time, but I think I've just about cracked it now.

Through Shoemoney for me (before he posted the big check). Got to say his blog doesnt give anything usefull anymore.

Glad i got tha Wickedfire.

I had a site and wanted to make money back in 2002 I believe, so banners etc. but I didn't know about internet marketing as a real business.
Much later I stumbled upon RichJerk, read a crapload of free ebooks which basically said the same stuff & pushed affiliate links, then WarriorForum.
After WarriorForum I thought Internet Marketing was about scamming each other so I paused for 6 months, and finally discovered blogs like bluehatseo, nickycakes... Now I've found WickedFire. I read a lot, throw some shit on the wall, and hope that i'll be fine in a few months.
