I've been promoting a product from CJ for the last 2-3 months and done decent.

Last night I got an email from an Advertiser Account Representative from CJ:
I am contacting you because I have seen your performance in the *** program increase in the last month. I am the account representative for the *** account at Commission Junction and if there is anything you need help with, please let me know. At this moment I see that your site is getting some good traffic and generating some good sales for both *blue widget* and *red widget*. I think we can work together to get a few more monthly sales, so please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I'm fairly new in this game, and not quite sure what I should ask for (well, except that I could always try to get a higher commission)?

Any suggestions to what an affiliate manager can do for you to increase convertions/sales?

Thanks

Definitely ask for a bump in payout. If you can find the offer paying better somewhere else, tell them, and have them match it.

If you're anything like me you use your AM for talking about getting hammered in Vegas and exchanging pics of boobies on AIM.

Having a good relationship with your AM's, being on their good side, definitely has its perks. I've never talked to any AM's at CJ though, I guess the $xxx I do a month with them is small enough to keep me under the radar.

Tell your AM as much as your comfortable with telling them. What you do, how you drive traffic, who you are marketing towards and what your style is and let them tell you what they think will work for you. With something as big as CJ and sooo many offers theres a good chance your missing something that might be a good fit for your site/style/demographics.

Advertiser account reps at CJ usually are an AM for a specific program, not for overall, just to clarify the AM structure there.

As for what to ask for, I've asked for different landing pages on their end (from what the merchant was using for their own stuff), coupons, RSS feeds, suggestions on top selling products to feature, etc.

Congrats, I've never received one at CJ, but the AM for my major program has been great. He's on Yahoo messenger most of the day, so any time I need something, or want some advice I go to him. Don't badger them, just stay in touch, and don't be afraid to ask questions, or ask for things to be changed if they need to be.

For CJ, there are account managers for each merchant's program - You'll get a personal AM if you're a CJP, which means you've pulled in $10k+ commissions for at least 3 months, and apply for that designation. I'm not a CJP, but I'm near that range, and occasionally a rep contacts me with some useful info on campaigns to expand to, merchants that peak in what months, etc.

Ya, once you start making real money, you definitely get some VIP service. I know once I started making over a couple thousand a month, they started to get in touch with me just to see if I needed anything. I've been able to make quite a bit extra money just by raising my payouts etc.

the bump in payout is easy to ask for especially if you're using PPC. Just say you're only making a small return so if they could bump your payout up you could bid a little higher and get more traffic. Then to cap it off as them if they want more sales... of course they'll always respond yes. Then tell them let me know what the best you payout you can get is, then give them a little ego stroking. You'll be amazed. For example on an offer I'm running it's on the networks for about 14-15 bux, I'm getting 25 right now. So for most offers theirs a lot of room to play.

Also as an Affiliate Manager I am constantly running reports for the best performing offers. A good AM should be able to help you find additional offers for you to run to increase your overall income. Talk to your AM and ask what's performing well on their network.

As said above, AMs want you to do well on their network. And pushing good traffic will definately get you better service. Faster payouts, higher payouts...etc. Talk to your AM and see what can be done!

Thanks for your help guys...

I've now been in contact with the AM at CJ.

As johu points out the account managers at CJ are only responsible for one merchant's program, so there is not really any info to get about best converting products, etc.
I did ask for an increased payout for one product and a coupon for another, but without any success. They wanted 4x the sales before they will bump my commission, which will take some time to reach. At least I have a new goal ;-)

One good thing came out of it. Apparently I had a small compliance issue, which could have been enough to get be booted out and loose the check, but I got things sorted out with the AM.
