How do you organize your tasks?

It all depends on what operating system you have. For Mac's, I use Omnifocus for projects and tasks that are actionable in the next 6 months, and Evernote for anything non-actionable within the next 6 months.

The main Idea of it all is to use a simple task list like Remember The Milk, Toodledo, Things, and Omnifocus. If you are implementing GTD, then your task list needs to have projects, and contexts. This is why Toodledo or Omnifocus is best. Remember The Milk is ok, but whoever made it does not truly know GTD, or they would have it set up for peojects. I have over 95 projects going on with next actions, as should anyone else that is truly doing a full GTD system.

I have an odd system.

I use a piece of printer paper folded hamburger style.

the top of the sheet is were i track "todo". The left my todo list and there right is my "contact so and so, or waiting for response" list.

the inside of the paper is were I put my "notes" from all phone conversations.

The back of the paper is were I track project info "like a hex color, or sub niche keyword idea.

Each morning I get a new sheet of paper out and copy all the info onto it. This allows me to start each day with an overview of what I need to work on. Basically it reminds me of all the tasts.

All old sheets get a date and are put into my filing cabinet, (mostly for the phone notes)

The best part of this system is that my paper sets in front of my keyboard, and is not on screen. I can't stand using computers to track my tasts. (odd I know.)

I basically do that as well but use xls and txt files in folders like said above. The piece of paper can go with me to breakfast or lunch and I dont need to bring a laptop at all. Add to it or review it on breaks anywhere.

Doesnt need a minute or two to boot and does not need an internet connection.

I have tried almost everything from Palm Pilots, Smart phones, laptops, netbooks, online php todo programs and I still like a piece of paper.

No downtime, bad saves, or crashes with paper.

Folded into three columns across the top then thirds again allows it to fit in a pants pocket.

Something so satisfying about crossing something off on paper.

Those two reasons are right on.

I also have a giant wall covered with vinyl white board material for tracking out some larger scopes that I can't wrap my mind around without going visual.

I'm trying to find the most efficient way or organizing everything I do - from what has been done to what needs to be done. So before I go ahead and spend $24 a month on basecamp - how do you guys organize your work? What software or sites would you recommend, and how efficient are they? Thanks for any input.

I have papers lined up in a row on the desk to my life, and a small white board as well.. and I also use a txt file on my desktop...

Notepad. Fuck those online "notes" services, whoever is behind it can read your notes, note that mine are so important, but none the less.
