It is usually quite easy to tell the difference between a Japanese person and a Chinese.
Well what is the main difference(s) to look for, without people here thinking it's racist or whatever they want to think.
That is what I am doing, and then you get people here saying it's racist for asking a question to understand people and where they come from.

Japanese people are xenophobic dicks.
Chinese people are still holding a grudge from that whole 'rape of nanking' thing. That and the Japanese refuse to acknowledge that it ever happened.
On the surface it seems racist, but, generally facial features you can tell the difference (I'm married to a chinese chick), in the same way you can broadly tell which country or region someone is from based on facial features given it's localized gene pools.
At least for the girls, J-girls tend to have rounder faces and tighter eyes, K-girls tend to have longer faces with slightly bigger eyes, C-girls have smaller but long faces in general, and wider eyes and a little tighter although not as tight as Japanese.
There are exceptions to this obviously.

Thank you very much Priority_Mail90 for answering my question and not thinking my question was racist. That is what I wanted to know.
Still, to be a dick, I would advise against any American born Asian pussy, even more so if they are hot, they're generally complete fucking bitches (they have American princess syndrome^10 because of the whole country wide on / off Asian fetish coupled with APS).
By looks alone I honestly can't tell the difference either.

scottish and irish
indian and pakistani
columbian and mexican
russians and french
italians and greeks (and I am italian)
or any single mixture of countries in africa.

That's interesting, I can absolutely tell the differences. Certainly more so for people from my home country, I can from fairly far distance guess whether someone is from my home country and mostly be correct.
I think it's just common facial features, gesturing from the culture and the aforementioned common gene pools.
That said, the original question was still shit, I mean, you couldn't look @ a sample of pictures side by side.
Well can you tell us the physical differences of those one's too? Cause I think girls will think it's hot if you can tell where they come from without them telling you.
