So basically I want to launch some campaigns using direct linking and just modifying the keyword destination urls. Haven't tried this before, never really done direct link period, always used an LP. So my question, actually I have two.

First, will this way of direct link with google give me a high quality score if I point the campaign to a high PR site (ie. niche related article on wikipedia) and just change kw destinations to the affiliate offer?

Second, how long will it take, or how large does the campaign have to be in order for google to do a manual review? I know this one probably varies, but I just want to hear what your experiences have been.

1) If you plan to do that linking trick, then Google will sooner or later find out and suspend your account.

2) Manual reviews typically occur when targeting specific keywords.

* There are different manual reviews for different reasons though.

I've done that tons of times and never had any problems, if by tweaking the destination URL you mean changing affiliatelink.com/ref=4323897483blablabla to the actual URL of the merchant site they end up at.

Thanks for the quick reply! Most likely I would use this method to see what works, and if something is converting well, I would build an LP for it hopefully before google gets a chance to review.

I still don't quite understand part two of the question, all search campaigns are targeting specific kw's.. Are you saying that Google has a "list" of KW's which if you're targeting they will manual review your campaign? Interesting, I'm still trying to figure out how long of a buffer period I have before I need to be worried of Google checking up. Or maybe if there's a certain traffic level I need to stay under in order to stay under the "Google radar".

What I meant was putting the destination url and display url on your campaign as that of an authority site (ie. an related niche article on wikipedia). Then you edit your "keyword settings" and modify the destination url of each keyword to point to your affiliate link. This way the Google bots go to the authority site and therefore give you a high QS, but the ads will point staight to your affiliate link.

Not sure exactly what you're referring to though?

Yes, there are specific keywords that will force your AD to go under a review first before becoming active. This will take place right after the creation of the campaign, you're budget makes no difference.
