How many affiliate marketers would be screwed without PPC ads?

The thing is, when you stop spending money with PPC, what does your business consist of?

Both have their merits and deficits. There are few people who intend to do this as a career who haven't staked out and created their own products and properties which they hope to monetize for years to come.

So instead of looking at them as opposing tactics, see them as complimentary.

Well said my friend.

I'm not saying that SEO is bad or useless, just that there is risk in it also, the risk of losing time for nothing. I know a buddy of mine that built a 10 page website on a product, spend months building backlinks, and finally got it ranking great for the term he needed, and he was banking decently well. But bam, 1 month later the advertiser drops the offer and he was never able to get an offer to replace it.
Right, but that sounds like he took on a niche without proper monetization channels. No skilled SEO is going to do something like that. Your friend put his eggs all in one basket when he didn't need to. That's far from a typical SEO experience for someone who does this for a living.

Risk is inherent in every profit making venture. If there was no risk, then there would be no profit. Entrepreneurs are skilled at assessing risks, and making informed choices to increase their chance of success. Those informed choices come from experience and prudence.

I Concur!!!

I love these threads where the OP get's hammered so fucking bad that they never bother posting in their own thread again. It's usually for the best actually.

True. I guess in both cases there is risk, PPC = Monetary Risk, SEO = Time Risk.

As you said earlier, we can't really compare the both, since they are different from one in other, and it depends on the marketers taste. Personally, I need instant gratification, and want to see the WIN/FAIL instantly.

go offline suckaz. old school tactics have their merit in the right verticals.

one of the most untapped ad markets is kids cereal boxes. You can get ad placements on general mills cereals, and others via an ad agency I reveal in my post.
Snag a domain, slap up a kid friendly lander and push download games. Been banking of this for a while.

Here is my tutorial on how to do it: You just have to get your game RIGHT or you wont be sticking AROUND

Hmm..interesting. You mention that an ad on Lucky Charms did better than on Frost Flakes, any idea why? Think the marshmallows in the Lucky Charms gave them the additional sugar to google your ad?

I am thinking that mGrunin has had the most useful posts and decent responses yet... the rest so far have just proven a point... WITH OUT PPC YOU ARE ALL SO SCREWED... I would go as far as to say it would be "no cash for you.... ever"

I guess the fucking search engines would be screwed as well. We're all fucked.

because CLEARLY PPC is the only method any of us are using to get money.

get lost fucknuts.

Am I missing something here with magicberry? I don't see why people are being so hostile toward them... It sounds like it would be an interesting idea though long and drawn out. I don't believe they are recommending anyone give up their PPC endeavors but to maybe try one niche idea where that person takes time to build up their SEO.

Agreed that PPC has lots of pros over SEO...

But if you were hit by a bus and woke up in the hospital 1 month later, there's a better than even chance that the SEO guy will have made money during that time while the PPC could have lost big - unless they had only established LT stable PPCs running, and didn't start riskier ads they intended to monitor closely just before kissing that bus.

Might be worth having an emergency fail safe plan for a close family member or friend to follow in the event of something bad happening to you. ie. log into your PPC account and pause everything. SEOs could last longer out of commission (no pun intended). Really only have to ensure domain and hosting get paid every year.
