How many people here have gone to college?

WF is a college.....
Now your first lesson is to learn how to use the advance search to answer these questions that have popped up an innumerable number of times......

i went to college for marketing and advertising, and then interactive multimedia. i guess it's cool cause i have a fancy piece of paper on my wall that says "honours" but not much worth it other than that, and the friends I have from school.

Well professor.. maybe u can be nice enough to point me to a thread? cuz I didnt see it when I actually did hit the search button before I posted

Haha. I was being a smart ass. Actually there really needs to be a thread about this.

You would do the following:

1) Go to http://www.wickedfire.com/search.php
2) Type in some keywords - I used "go to college" and chose "title only" to restrict some of the searches

3) This popped up http://www.wickedfire.com/search.php?searchid=1737000

FYI related threads tend to pop up if you scroll to the bottom.

I'll take my $150K salary and free parking space now, thank you very much - lol

I have a bachelors in communication with a concentration in on air radio talent

look where that got me ;)

went for a year in '01. dropped out. been working ever since.

self-employed since 2005 (Mom's basement)

Self employed since 15. Only 17 now though so that's not saying much... lolz

Don't think I'll be going to college, unless I can find something I REALLY fucking love. Don't get me wrong, working for yourself is a lot better than any job I can think of, but I'm not going to lie, there's a lot of others things I would like to do beside sittin in the office all day.

I've made a lot of money for my age and it's made me realize that money doesn't mean shit in terms of happiness. In fact, it sometimes makes it worse. I've got a somewhat pimped out BMW and I have a fucking blast driving it, but everyone just assumes my dad bought it, therefore, I'm a spoiled bitch... or they think.... I think I'm better than everyone else. Obviously once they get to know me they realize neither are true.

That's why the best money to have... is money that people don't know about.

I'd rather make 50k a year doing something that NEVER feels like work, than make 200k a year with a job I don't enjoy.

I think it was that finch sells dude or w.e that had a blog post about this whole thing. Definitely something to think about...

SUMMARY: Don't go to college just for the sake of getting a high paying job and thinking the money will make you happy.

  • I went to community college for 1 year & 3 months.

  • I had a great GPA but it wasn't challenging or stimulating enough, so I left.

  • My entire family still looks at me funny even though they hate their jobs (those of them that still have jobs) and I enjoy my work.

  • My friends all think they are going to get "job offers" when they graduate from mediocre colleges with lukewarm credentials.

Got Bachelor degrees in both accounting and management information systems. The accounting degree has been pretty helpful but the MIS degree was a joke.
