How much are your bills each month?

The cost of living here is a joke. You guys living expenses are so low. I need to fucking emigrate. The only thing holding me back is family.
That's what I'm planning to do at some point in the future, and yes, family would also be an issue for me. I'll be going back to uni in a few months, and even though it's in coventry, rent on campus will be anywhere from £320 - £400 ($800) per month just for the room.

I don't know if I'd like the US, but I'd certainly go and live there for a bit to see what it's like, I'm tired of the UK - house prices are fucking insane, too many chavs, and you aren't allowed guns (not even Airsoft guns anymore without a permit!).

Ironically I think I would probably still come back and live in London :D

For those of you spending a ton on your phone, try using Grand Central and Gizmo5 together (if you have a fast Internet connection)... I use them together and get free incoming calls and free long distance calls.

My total talk time in a month? About 3,000 minutes...

My phone bill? $0.00

Do you have a link to a detailed tutorial on how to do that?

Nope, but I can tell you right here, it's easy.

1. First you obviously need to sign-up for Grand Central and Gizmo5.

2. After signing up for Gizmo5, you'll get a free SIP number. It looks like 1-747-330-1234

3. Log in to Grand Central and add your SIP number to the account. When you go to add the number, use the pull down and select "Gizmo". It lets GC know you use the Gizmo5 software.

That's it... when you go to make a call in GC you'll select your Gizmo5 number and it will ring in on your Gizmo5 software. Answer it and you'll hear, "This call is being connected by Level3 communications". It'll ring and the person you called will pick up...

When someone calls you, it'll ring on your Gizmo5 software and you'll hit "answer" and then go to the dialpad and hit "1" to allow the incoming call.

My call quality is better than my old AT&T landline.

Ah yeah but you can't use that on a cellphone, unless you're paying for internet data plans? And that's just stupid. That's what I thought you meant.

Still, thats pretty fuckin cool.

Yeah, I don't have a cell phone, I just use this... but I do have friends who use Gizmo5 with their cell phone (as long as it has wifi capabilities). If your cell phone has wifi and SIP, you can make free calls anywhere there's a wifi connection. Not perfect, but it could save some minutes...

like $2K per month
$900 month morgage
$50 a month internet
$400 a month for salaries of 2 maids, house boy and driver
$500 month for food (this includes shit like cleaning products, and shit that makes the house go, to be honest i am not 100% what it for :) )

The people on WickedFire don't exactly strike me as frugal or thrifty.

Judging by the posts so far, I guess they are thrifty!

Mortgage= $1600 (3-bed, 1-bath house - nothing fancy here)
Utilities = $200
Car insurance = $150
cell phone = $60
cable/internet = $80
food = $400 (wife and I)
beer = $40 (if drinking at home - obviously much more if going out)
gas = $ don't want to know

I guess I need to move to the midwest, lol.

About $4k , South Florida aint the cheapest place, luckily I bought a house before the bubble in 2002 and have invested consistently for about 9 years now.

Fuck who knows but its probably around $800 for me right now but come a few more months its going to be upto about $1700 - $1800 lol gotta love the price jump in getting a place on your own.

Rent - A little under $300 with electricity and water
Food - $100 - $300
Transport - $50
The Rest - $300

I spend more money than I should, really.

I was born in coventry! Grew up near there, but on the south coast now.

expenses prob around $2k:
rent is cheap - $800 for a 2 bed house and loads of land (landlord is fuckin useless... ya get what ya pay for, but fuck paying that for just a room!)

With ya on the chav thing mate, there's a lot of things that make me want to get out of this country as soon as poss.

I remember when I was studying in Manchester, I was paying £35 per week for a room in halls of residence....aaaar...those were the days.

Its getting so unsafe in London that its ridiculous. Adults are scared of children!!!

Funny, because I'd like to do the reverse. I'm getting sick of the US and it's conservative culture (read: drinking age 21) and would like to try out university / living in the UK. A friend of mine I go to school with is from London and never stops talking about it. Granted it may be a little better when your father is one of the richest people in the country, but he sure makes it sound appealing. I don't know how long I would be able to put up with the accent though. :repuke:

Yeah I guess anywhere different from where you are now has its own appeal. If you do move to the UK I wouldn't really recommend anywhere other than London, because the capital is obviously where its at :D

I respectfully disagree kind sir. There's a lot more to the UK than just London. London is great to visit but after a while just makes ya want to get away!
