How Much Does Your Accountant Charge?

That seems really high but if you didn't ship him quickbooks it might make sense. Since he would have to manually enter your expenses and income into his accounting system and categorize it. Depending on how much data you had it might of took a long time. Could of been lots 1099s he had to send out to dudes you payed over $600 to. Although that would of had to be done awhile ago.

Do you pay quarterly estimates? If not you better check with him or another accountant about those or you'll be paying penalties and interest.

First off, I don't give a shit if you do your own taxes so don't make a useless post saying "$0".

My accountant charged me $3,250 for doing my corporation taxes and another $3,000 for my personal taxes...this just seems high.

What did you pay your accountant for your 2008 taxes?

Here's the thing, a friend of mine has a brick and mortar business that has employees, shit loads of inventory, fucking 6 buildings, fucking vehicles, etc. He did $7 million in revenue last year and paid his accountant $6,000.

So you got raped. Considering how complex some physical businesses are, in contrast Affiliate marketing accounting is like color by number simple.

High I think..

$1,500 for me.

Quarterlies and a whole bunch of specialized Go Zone shit included.

Btw Go Zone FTW !!!

50% depreciation on real estate purchases.

I paid $1150 total last year. You should ask them why it's so high and what you can do to reduce it.

Accountants get paid by the hour, I paid like $300.
Even your accountant makes $400 an hour like top notch accountants do, $6k is definitely excessive.

ROFL @ paying 6200 for getting your taxes done BWHAHAHAHA

A sucker is born every day and apparently Uber is a sucker! Maybe you should take accounting if you ever get into college, may save you some cash.

$350 for my taxes.

I emailed him about the price being high and he said :

In 2008 you had an $800,000 business with no accounting records which we put together from scratch. We do high quality work and our professional fees range from $125 to $250 an hour, which is on the low side of competitive for a high-quality CPA Firm. In NYC your fees would be double.

Personally, I had several hours into computing your federal, New Jersey and New York personal tax liability, your SEP-IRA contributions; your extension payments, your estimated tax payments. Elisa Nusinow, CPA our staff member who handled the accounting for your sole-proprietorship and Juni had 12 hours into reconciling the adjusted trial balances of both.

I guarantee you that your internet marketing friends are not getting the same service as you, nor are their accounting & tax situations similar to yours.

it sucks when they start throwing the nonaccountable hours at ya without a detailed itemization. You can ask them for it, but now they will just fabricate that shit like a used car salesman adding "undercarriage wax".

i know we aren't internet marketing friends and all, but i think i am getting better service at a much lesser rate lol. I have been with the same guy for 5 years and haven't paid over $2k. No audits, nothing.

The personal side seems absolutely insane. Unless you had multiple other complicated Partnerships feeding into the return on top of the Corp, it should not have run you over $500-600. The cost of the corp return makes sense if your records weren't that great. Putting together an affiliate return can be a giant headache for an accountant that isn't familiar with the industry if they are working off sloppy records.

The best bet is usually to find a local smaller firm that can understand the basics of affiliate marketing. Larger firms will tend to either charge higher rates or bill based on what they bill businesses that do similar revenue. This usually means they will bill it closer to a more traditional business like a retail shop, etc, that have numerous employees, and various other details to justify the bill.
