How much Gmail dependent is your business?

I've got tons of gmail accounts, which I open for any ad-hoc purpose there is - domain regs, hosting, adwords accounts etc
Basically for each new service I sign up, if I don't want to expose myself I just use a new gmail. Sure many ppl do the same.

Nator,

You could still use many gmail accounts then have them forward to e-mail accounts on random throwaway web hosting accounts that you control outside of gmail, as long as the e-mail addresses are different (the prefixes, specifically). Then set the web host e-mail's "catchall" account to catch all the various e-mails. (For extra caution, just be sure you don't point all the e-mails to a single domain, even if you vary the prefixes. 5000 gmail accounts forwarding to a single domain is a giveaway.)

Then in turn have the catchall accounts forward all mail to a single separate e-mail account (again outside of gmail) for central viewing.

Why not use hushmail or yahoo mail? There's plenty of alternatives.

Shit, even hotmail.

*reminiscences back in the days (1997) when getting porn pics in hotmail was the shit*

I guess everyone was just talking about fastmail's paid option. so:

huge storage
no ads
dedicated support
no random google ban
hopefully no personal details sniffing and indexing, like google certainly does (oh well, who knows what yahoo, hotmail, aol or even the host of your own domain do...*paranoid*)
