How to Make A Couple Easy G's.

don't forget... to really seal the deal you'd need .net .org as well
and... obviously the first thing anyone would do instead of wiring $1k to 'one of those domain opportunists' is register firstname-lastname.* and laugh as you sit on a worthless variation while their dashed version appreciates by the week.

so... you'd need yourname-lastname.com/.net/.org as well to completely seal the deal.

50 domains become 300... which is when you've truly sealed the deal. claiming just 50 is like throwing darts hoping for a 1-in-6 bulls-eye.

I have a relative who is a celebrity. His name has already been registered.

The culprit who is cyber squatting appears to have about 5,000 domains he is sitting on that are all exact name or product matches. If you google his name you'll see multiple ICAAN disputes that go against him. He never, ever wins.

Yet- he's probably still banking because every one of those sites has some type of advertising/adsense/etc on it. All he has to do is keep registering them every year and let the ones he loses to ICAAN disputes go.

I presume he doesn't ever respond to the ICAAN inquiries from what I can read.

Frankly - a large number of celebrities, athletes, etc don't ever bother developing their own personal web brand. They go with their show/movie/team image or whatever and never even think about their own name dot com.

Now - a REALLY clever person would find some poor people and give them $1000 to change their name to the celebrity name and THEN register the site acting as that person's agent and keeping the site some sort of trust naming the company as the indefinite agent for that domain. No cyber-squatting issues then :)
