I've got a bigger than average family (smaller than average cock) -

About two years ago, we purchased a 2009 Chevy Traverse. It's since turned out to be a lemon. We're considering purchasing a new vehicle and I'm just curious if any of you guys have some guidance that might help me get into a better situation.

Please troll, but also give a few cents.

Use the search function, or maybe someone else knows the thread link?

But there was an amazing thread on here a while ago about purchasing a vehicle. One guy who used to be a car salesman chimed in with about 15 paragraphs, explaining absolutely everything you need to know, and how to get the best deal.

Your first mistake was buying a Chevy passenger vehicle. Their trucks are quality but everything else they make is shit. And no, a Traverse is not a "truck"

Should've considered that, but didn't. Thanks.

I don't think he was bitching that you didn't use the search function, who expects to find a thread on buying a car on an internet marketing forum lol.

Said thread is in enlightened members section.

Well, you can invest some money in the car, sell it and buy yourself a new one, or a second hand one if you can't afford a new one.

The first question is have you discussed with the dealership or service department the possibility of having the vehicle bought back by Chevy?

Generally if a vehicle has been in a service department for the same problem multiple times, without being properly fixed, there is usually an option to open a buy back claim and if they determine it meets the lemon law buy back requirements, you are very likely to get a substantial portion of your original purchase price back from Chevrolet, or credit towards another vehicle.

I was in the auto industry for nearly 14 years and I saw some Chrysler products bought back after the people had owned the vehicle for 3 or even 4 years in some cases. These vehicles were in service for the same problems every week, and the tech's just couldn't find a fix for them. The manufacturer gave the owners more than the retail Kelly Blue Book price in some cases. If the vehicle is truly a lemon by definition, I would start there and see if you can go that route.

Nice, I'm actually scheduling a meet with the dealership here soon.

I'll post follow up questions as they come. Thanks for the insight.

No problem. Stay firm with them. If it's really a lemon, don't let them offer you a free lifetime warranty or something. They'll try to do that so they don't have to bother with the buy back.
