How were your freedoms and liberty assaulted in the last few years?

With all the fun back and forth political arguments on this board descending into trolling I thought it might be fun for anyone who's been paying attention to the various ways that our freedom and liberty has been washed away in the last few years.

I thought it might be fun for those of us who see it to post examples... and those of you who think that Romney or Obama is a good choice to defend how the loss of those liberties is o.k.

I figure we'll go 5 posts before someone is an idiot -- so let's see if we can go at least 20.

Only idiots should be concerned with the erosion of freedom and civil liberties?

Hell the only thing this forum is good for anymore is trashing people. We made it to exactly 1 post before nickycakes did exactly what is wrong in here.

To much crap to wade through anymore and it's just easier to be a troll.

You'd think someone who isn't even allowed to place a little tiny pixel anymore would be concerned about freedom :)

Smoking bans.
Seatbelt laws.
Paying for others health insurance.
Exotic pet bans.

Plenty of others, just too late to think.

this. the list is endless.

most notably for me was my local farmer being raided at gunpoint and shut down making it far more difficult for me to get food that doesn't kill me and mandatory fluoridation of my state's water went into effect this past year.

A lot of big stuff is from the federal government but a lot of local laws hit people right away and hard:
- Zoning laws to favor connected businessmen
- Rent control
- LA county so-called rehabilition commission (forget the exact name) that has blighted many neighborhoods
- Illegal to catch rainwater in some localities
- Unions and union backed legislation, one of my favorite being codes that prohibited use of pvc plumbing
- Excessive regulation and permit requirements for small biz

Those are some of the things that used to affect me. But no longer because I no longer live in an overregulated country.

The mothafucking Patriot Act. I wonder what kind of laws have been passed that hinge off the Patriot Act - laws that the government could only pass because of the power the Patriot Act gave them.
