I've been looking for another affiliate network besides Azoogle to work with, that sources most offers directly. It looks like Hydra does a lot of direct offers (their tracking pixels), and there are a ton of offers in the fields I'm looking at. Any advice/comments/caveats of dealing with Hydra?

Great network in my experience. Not a fan of their affiliate managers, but plenty of offers and good payouts.
You should also check out Copeac.
 
I've checked out Copeac, but Hydra has more offers in the niches I'm looking at. Also, I had a less than stellar experience with Copeac with an offer that did not have Copeac's direct pixel on it (merchant batched reports) - One of the zip offer advertisers ended up fucking me over on tracking, and my affiliate manager over at Copeac admitted that there were tracking issues with that merchant. If there are known tracking issues, why promote it to affiliates?

Pretty much, I'm looking for a network that makes most of its deals direct, and not just subs out another network's offers.

I think you could talk to 'Mkrongel' - Boss of Copeac. See what he can do. I my experience, he could even provide you with some idea or pull some great offers for you. Give it shot... Cheers

So am I, that's the main source of my affiliate income at the moment. The key there is to get programs with good account managers. Not sure if many people here are fans of CJ, but they have more name brand products and stores than any other network.

Mind elaborating on the negatives? At the moment, all I see is a vague comment and an affiliate link for another network (though I'm sure you do have more to say about Hydra).

The most important part for me is that offers have the network's own tracking pixel on the offers I want, and to have many offers in my niche. I might go with PrimaryAds to start out as I've had good experiences with them in the past, though I'm not sure how the new management shakeup affected anything.
 
I should also mention that CJ doesn't have any advertisers for what I'm looking for - The products I'm going to promote on my new campaign are pretty much only found in CPA networks.

What is bad with Hydra?
Offer payouts?
Tracking?
Bad account managers?
Timely payouts?

When I'm trying to choose between networks, a little more detailed feedback besides "hydra sucks giant goat testes" would help. I've pretty much only dealt with CJ, Azoogle, and PrimaryAds on a large scale in the past, and haven't actually used Hydra, though I do have an account there. As long as the offers that I want track properly, and I get paid on a regular basis, I'm good.

That's not really a very informative answer!

Like many people reading this I'm sure, I've no experience with them and would be very interested in knowing what problems people may have had.

Let's make it easy, have you experienced:

Payment problems or delays?
Tracking problems?
Offers pulled without warning?
Communication issues?
Lack of choice?
Problems with your AM?
Non-payment due to 'bad traffic' - no conversions for advertiser, they side with advertiser rather than affiliate? (Seems to be a common complaint.)
 
Since this thread got bumped, I'll add to it. I've had no problems with hydramedia. One of their advertisers I was promoting went bankrupt, they paid me. Last time an offer was pulled I received no less than 5 emails from them within a one hour period.

No offense to my other affiliate managers, but my hydramedia rep is probably the best at this point. No bullshit, constant communication, and messages are answered promptly even at later hours. I think I even got an email at midnight once.

As for downsides, the affiliate rep I got with them when I first joined was gave me a really bad impressions with them so I didn't send them much traffic for a long time.
 
Why are you all crying about Hydra without stating what you don't like. They have some of the highest payouts on a ton of offers and as Andrew stated you always get notified about everything, they answer their e-mails FAST and probably send more e-mails than they should but I really don't mind. Beats having to beg an AM to receive a bi weekly report.
