So I got two missed calls from a UK number while I was away. Was trying to remember if any of my clients were from the UK, called back to find out it was a wrong number (twice)... I heart Google Voice cuz it only cost me 2 cents to find that out as opposed to Tmobile's usual rate of a 1.50/min. Seems like anything besides GV is pure rape for international calling.

Course on that note... are GV invites randomly given to accounts (don't see any invites on sidebar someone was asking for some)?

:food-smiley-010:

cool
anyone tried it? how good is it at transcripting the voice?
would love to try too if anyone has an invite

Fuck I've been wanting an invite for this for a while.
Anyone got 1 more left?

it's just a middle man in between your real phone and them...there's no quality loss or anything.

I'm pretty sure you can get apps that can make it so you can answer the call on your desktop or andriod phone, over data instead of using minutes.

I already use the google voice app, when I started the thread, I had GV setup to automatically make phone calls thru GV whenever the number is an international call. Also if someone calls me via google voice, it will actually prompt me when I answer, with the person speaking their name before I decide to take the call.

The best way to describe it, is like making a call using a phone card (ie: dialing to the main service number, then giving them a phone number to connect you to) except in this case, its all done automatically by the google voice app on my android phone, all I gota do is just dial an international number and GV takes care of the rest.

if you're not using a prepaid cell phone you can even punch in an IMEI code into your phone so that any missed calls gets forwarded to your google voicemail account instead of your phone provider's voicemail, which means you can get the voicemails transcribed or picked up from any phone or device setup with your GV account.
