So, I spend a lot of time in Jamaica. My bank knows this. I usually let them know, so they don't flag my card. Never had an issue with it. Well, this last time I was there, I used my business visa debit there 2 times.

A week later I get home and I check my account....someone stole my card number, pressed it, and spent over $10K worth of shit. One charge was for over $2K worth of shoes. I don't think my wife could even spend that much on shoes.

Anyways, I feel a bit violated. I've had some small charges that weren't legit, but this was the first time it went this far.

Anyone else had their shit jacked this bad? I've talked to a lot of people that this has happened too. Seems to be an epidemic.

Someone in Yugoslavia or somewhere once bought a ton of luggage on my card. The bank quickly canceled everything and it was about zero problems but a phone call from them telling me and then getting a new card.

Some years back I had a $1 charge on my card that wasn't from me. If I remember correctly I went into my bank either the same day or the next day, did a chargeback on that $1, cancelled that card and got a new card number.

I always watch my account like a hawk. That $1 was somebody testing my card, and whoever it was probably would have come back later and banged my card until they emptied my account.

I have no idea how somebody got my card number, but I'm glad I caught it before it became a larger issue as I was using that account to pay my bills out of at the time. Those small charges that weren't 'legit' were warning signs that somebody else had your card number and you would have been wise to act on it sooner.

Sometimes it's good to be paranoid.

I had some fucktard motel operator in Tennessee try this shit- but like Poto I watch my accounts closely, and caught the "test" almost immediately.

I'm happy to say the fucking dothead carpet sucking pakistani son of the owner immigrant bitch who cloned my card is now enjoying sweet black anal love in a Nashville area prison.

Yeah...American Express did me foul back in like 2006..... $15k. I didn't pay them jack, told them suck a cock.. now 7 years later, BOOYA, off my credit

I love the story of being empowered.. hate it happened.

^ lol oh yeah, let me clarify. I did this after having several recordings of them violating the terms of agreement for the card. Not just recklessly.

Probably a porn trial sub. Years ago carders would hit a porn site for the trial and if that went through they'd rape you.

I don't know it work's in U.S with credit cards, but don't you get a text message every time there is a transaction on your card?

Isn't the bank responsible if somebody steals your money as long as you didn't enable them to do it?

Happened to me once, about $8k in charges. Wasn't a big deal though. Just called the bank, within 36 hours had papers in hand, signed and faxed them, and 24 hours later the charges were off my card.

I still don't understand why Canadian banks are so far behind the rest of the world. For example, pretty near everywhere in Europe and Asia, when you get a VISA card there's two numbers associated with it. The number that's printed on the card, which is for in-store purchases, and will only go through if the card is present and physically swiped through the terminal.

Then you have a second number that's nowhere on the card, which can be used for things like online purchases. So even if a waiter or someone copies your card number down, it's useless to them, because that number won't go through unless the card is physically swiped through the terminal.

A lot of restaurants are infested with thieves who will swipe your card into a pocket-sized credit card swiper that will record all of the CC info. They'll do this behind the counter and collect your info while also charging you for the meal.

I've never understood why they still allow waiters to take your card away from the table in the US. In Europe its normal now for the waiter to bring the credit card processor over to the table. Its a much better system since you see exactly what they are doing with your card. Also, credit cards should also have a PIN code. A signature is the easiet thing in the world to fake.

Lol that country don't exist for well over 20 years
10, it was Federal Republic of Yugoslavia until 2003.

A ton of online stores here in the UK only use the standard card details and CVV, although it's slowly transitioning.

Not really what I meant. This is on the bank / VISA level, and nothing to do with online stores. UK doesn't have it either yet? I know Canada doesn't. I know Malta, Czech Republic, Thailand, and Malaysia all have it though.

For example, I have my debit card with a VISA number imprinted on it. If I try to order something off say Amazon using that number, the bank will decline the payment. That number will only go through if the card is physically present, and swiped through the terminal.

Then I have another card number, which is available via online banking, but nowhere on the card. That's the number I can use for online purchases. So even if a waiter copies down my card number, unless they have a card printing machine, it's totally useless to them, because that number will never go through unless it's swiped through the terminal.

Makes to much sense for them to do that here.
