When I first moved to Philly I had a Dodge Ram that was broken into 3 times in a month and, finally, had the tailgate stolen off the back midday while I was out at work.
When I decided to buy my next car, I just went with a used Sentra. People around here park by braille and I've been rear-ended by a convicted drunk driver (who was drunk at the time). 90% of the time I just ride my bike or take mass transit anyway. When it comes time to sell, I'll lose maybe 1 or 2 grand on the resale? But the car will have cost me about 20% of what it cost to have even a simple American truck repaired over the course of it's life.
