or not.

I sold a pair of tickets for the Bulls-Heat game 1 and game 2, I'm a bulls season ticket holder.

I sold each pair for about $800.

Instead of sending the money to my bank account ( I don't have my bank account linked to paypal)

I bought Gold coins with the balance.

So my paypal balance is close to $0 at the moment.

How do I know someone is trying to scam me?

Both buyers:

-Had 0 Feedback
-Are located in PA (The games are/were played in Chicago, 1,000 miles away)

- Are women (I guess that does not really matter, but maybe lol)

- Weird that both Paypal accounts had confirmed addresses.

And now the convincing evidence, The First Email I received Friday from the Game 1 Buyer, and the second email I received tonight from the Game 2 Buyer.

-Hello! Just paid through paypal, please send them at your earliest convenience!
My address is l**********1@hotmail.com, thank you!
Lorraine.

So the tickets are DIGITAL. I emailed them.

I can change the Bar code of the Game that has not already been played (wednesday night)

Making the tickets I emailed VOID.

The thing is... I received a combined $4-500 more than what the tickets were worth. (I was selling high with a BUY IT NOW and hoping for the best)

And the money is spent

What would you do? Keep the money? Report to Ebay/Paypal? I know the chargebacks are coming.

I really feel like saying F the paypal account. Keep the money. Void the tickets. Donate the re-issued tickets to the boys and girls club.

Ouch, sucks to hear. If it's been over 48 hours though, there's a decent chance those charges are legit. Otherwise, you would have probably already heard about the disputes being filed.

Not sure what I'd do though, but don't think I'd say "fuck PayPal!". I did that once because someone ripped me off, and I'm unable to open a PayPal account now. Seems they won't open an account for anyone with my name & birth date. I guess I could get fake ID, but you know...

Nowadays, for any serious business I do ($2000+), I require a signed contract with photo ID. Then I tell the person I have lots of "friends". Works like a charm. :)

Or void the ticket, says there's a problem with the transaction, and ask them to e-mail you scanned copies of their photo ID.

Yikes because you technically can't ship this product its digital and therefore you would get rolled in a dispute.

I dont know

I know. I have no leverage in a dispute. The only leverage I have is knowing what's going on before it happens.

PP does not have my social and only has my CC info.

I don't really care about the PP account, losing the ebay account would hurt. But not 100% sure Id lose the ebay account.

If you have to ask and based on what you've said, then you should already know. Good luck with saying F to the paypal account, it goes on you and you have to owe PayPal and you they'll shut down your account and take you into collections, etc.. unless you're not worried about your credit or anything or ever using paypal again, then I guess it's your call.

Sometimes they will reverse recent transactions done during a close time-range of the dispute, did you buy the coins from your paypal funds? i guess you did, since you said there's $0 there, so they could reverse that transaction as well.

Did you not notice all those flags before you decided to send them the tickets? or thought it would better to just go through with it and ask on WF what to do next?

Is your ss# attached to this account? It's not really a big deal to make a new Paypal account, but if your ss# is attached, it may be tough to get one that doesn't get limited and tough to get the limited status fixed. I battled with them for years for doing some similar shit.

how does this go on my credit? They do not have my ss#.

Yeah I noticed the red flags. But was fine after I seen confirmed paypal addresses.

But obviously the identical emails threw out any hope of the buyers being legit.

I never give them my shit. and I advise everyone to go the same route.

another account is just another LLC.

ha, yeh, i saw that while i was typing my response.

I mean, i had account where I owed $2000 because of similar BS and they never tried to take me to collections, so if you really don't care about the account, fuck'm.

Also, you use to be able to change the paypal account associated with your ebay account. not sure if you still can, cause haven't fucked with ebay in years.

Many years ago, I had a negative $80 balance on my paypal account that I did not know about. I found out when I received a collection letter.

Been HAD collections from 14yo old.

Just did that. Thanks for reminding me. Not sure if it helps. But a good idea.

There is more than one way to get your SSN. They have your credit card on file, name, DOB and that is all they need find out and to add it to your credit report

Before you receive your complaint, I would suggest you grab the shipping address you were supplied with, print out a piece of paper for each of the tickets, and mail them.

As soon as you mail the paper, your sale becomes tangible, and you are protected. Make sure you fedex, so you have a tracking number to provide to Paypal if they receive a chargeback.

Edit: If you do this, and you are saved from the chargebacks, I'll expect a cut ;)

How's $50 sound? I'm not crazy, I'm appreciative. That's the best advice I received. I'm going to take your advice and send it out in the morning. Let me give it 30 days to see how it plays out. If it's all good, you have my word, $50 NSA. I'm a man of my word.

Do you think I can mail the tix for the game that was already played as long as I beat the chargeback?

I thought you couldn't dispute digital good? I've been boned trying to dispute them before.
