Wow, the Mainstream Media has been busy reporting the Icelandic revolution, haven't they?

They haven't? You haven't heard of it either?

Ahh, that's just because it was done successfully with no violence while winning a huge blow for the cause of freedom!

ICELAND. No news from Iceland?

This revolution was years in the making, since 2008, and somehow they threw out their entire government, re-wrote their constitution, and nationalized all their banks without a single gunshot.

While I don't like the part about the banks, it's all a VERY good model for the rest of the world to follow. A blueprint that if it gets out, would mean the easy defeat of those in power. (Bilderberg/NWO/whatever)

Thoughts?

It didn't make it into the MSM over here either. But then, many Thais have their own ideas about revolutions, which seem to include

burning down megamalls in the capital city.

Admittedly not as aeffective as the steps taken by those crafty Icelanders.

Ive read about it in the last few days, must admit in Spain there has been zilch info on this.

Meanwhile in Spain we still have the revolution kicking off in the streets (15M) the news does to a certain extent cover it, but when it comes to succesfull changes such as Iceland....nothing, nada, zilch.

It isnt so much about the word getting out, many a people will know about this through the internet.

The problem is...what do the people do to make government take action on something they wont even contemplate? And how to do it without riots nor gunshots?

Thats the issue, we all talk about it and we are all angry about the way our countries are heading, but what can we do that actually makes a real impact?

Riots and protests creates awareness but frankly imo it doesnt get very far, not just that but when they do show it on the news the always pick the biggest fucking retards of protesters going, they never show on camera those that actually know how to talk coherently without looking like a hippy prick.

Its like a never ending vicious cicle.

Two years already... Wow, times flies. I remember talking about it here in STS when those pictures first started cropping up...

Was that the Paragon? They did an awesome job with repairs... I couldn't see any signs of any damage at all on Rama I.

Precisely why I posted that link... The people of Iceland know; they've lived it recently.

Of course in their case they were helped a lot by their small population size & the relative isolation from the EU, way up in the north Atlantic ocean... But even still, whatever they did, we should be able to scale it up to do the same elsewhere.

It was Central World which is massive and pretty nice compared to most malls wtih a lot of unique and interesting shops and restaurants instead of all the usual chain stores and cookie cutter shops. The place got gutted pretty bad by the fire - the red shirts had spent weeks stuffing it full of old car tires so when they lit it up it burned fierce and hot. Burning it didn't do much for their cause, but it did cause about 10,000 of their brothers and sisters working there to lose their jobs at least temporarily.

Luke P. I don't know why nobody has said this, but you're a FUCKING RETARD. Go do some work and make some money you waste of internets.

I for one appreciate LP's posts I don't know how he does it myself. Trying to educate a bunch of fucktards about what is really going on in the world.

I gave up a long time ago, and seriously hope I live long enough to see the shit hit the fan in a big way, so I can watch as the fuckin morons like you get exactly what they deserve.

Peace

That was a good read - cheers

it was long ago and i heard of it. medias dont speak much becuase thye dont want revolution to spread to whole EU and crush the public private banks ;)

While I think it's pretty badass that these folks are taking control of their futures, it should be noted that the population of Iceland is around 1% of that of California at just 320,000 people.

I sincerely doubt that what Icelanders have accomplished recently could be done in a country with a significantly larger population.

Small homogeneous population versus large diverse population packed with uncountable number of different special interest groups.

1) They did not get a new constitution, they have proposed a new one. Quite different.

2) The government was not overthrown. The coalition collapsed and was replaced by a left wing government. This might be indistinguishable from "government overthrow" to some Americans, but it's common in a parliamentary system.

All in all, whoever wrote that 'article' was a bit of a moron.
