No, didn't copy the LP. But it's just a bridge page really, he doesn't follow up on anything he describes in his ad. But I guess you got a point, I might play with that later. At the moment I'm direct linking.

@xmcp123
I am outbidding him, it's just that I gotta pay more because of his higher CTR ad which from my test seems to bring in little ROI, I actually lost a bit of money when I was running it.

Well there you go, you didn't copy his LP so you can't really compare.

Take the same angle. Make your ad even better and follow through on the LP with what you said in your ad and lead them into the sale. Then you can own him.

I was just about to write that then saw your post. Seriously, stop crying he is owning you and change your own strategy.

Ok you've got a point, but where is your comment useful really? If you read my second post you can see that I already realize this...

Also be careful, I know if I see some asshat rip off my Ad & Landing Page, it's highly likely their Adwords CTR will be really high and conversions will remain flat.

It's even better if they 100% copy wholesale something unique, take down notice FTW ! And much harder to unravel.

Generally speaking though, a bridge/landing page can increase conversions substantially and with a Negative Ad, it's all the more important to explain why the product is a good. I can easily see why saying something negative about a product in the Ad with no upsell, just direct to the product page would end up with shitty conversions.

How could you think of direct linking with a negative ad???!!!!

Sit down and think before you do anything like this - seriously. And I mean it positively.

I did it because I didn't see any added value in the bridge page of my competitor. It just says "warning: you are missing out on [benefit here]" and then a couple of bullet points with some more benefits (all these benefits are already on the sales page), and then it links to the merchant sales page. It doesn't do anything to turn around the negative claim made in the ad.

Anyway, initially I just wanted to get a feel for the CTR, the bad conversion was an added side effect.

I'll probably whip up my own landing page soon enough and start playing with it some more.

I've personally never taken the approach ... it seems to me like it would definitely generate a higher CTR but how exactly do you come back on your LP from your negative opinion in the ad?

Unless we're talking about putting down a popular competitors product in your ad.... now that's a different story -- simple review style LP rating your product much higher.

There you go...just tell them not to buy product x from merchant x because it sucks. However, merchant y = holy shit wowowowow.

Though, you should probably steer clear of naming the actual merchant x. If you can't figure out how to do that you fail.

i agree it is pretty annoying sometimes. But its pretty funny when there are like 10 ads all saying "this product is a scam". Thats defintley gonna sketch out any potential customers.

I think they all read the same ebooks

If you make them feel it's NOT for them, it makes them feel as if you're telling them they're not good enough to be in that exclusive club - hopefully they bite and 'prove you wrong' by buying.
The Arrogant Bastard Ale ad campaign. Worked pretty well for them...This beer probably isn't good enough for you. You won't be able to handle it.

I only remember one time promoting Water4Gas. There was some idiots who were trying to get clicks by saying Water4Gas Scam. That also fucked up everyone. Sales drop. I think those prospects would feel like hesitating.

True, but if someone is seriously researching product reviews of things like The Rich Jerk (2nd edition) they're too far out to lunch to begin with for that to matter.

I got scammed 37 times
And now I've devoted my life to scamming others!
