If you drive a Toyota, you might want to sell it, or maybe buy a nice casket.

That why I only drive this: In case the peddle gets stuck when im rounding a corner and I say Holy shit!

Actually, they just mentioned Lexus on nightline and there are plans to include them as well. Here's the audio from someone calling in when their Lexus did it: 911 Call Released in Stuck Accelerator Crash | momlogic.com

They stated the Lexus recall is separate from this latest Toyota recall list.

Some lexus models (as Nicky mentioned above) were recalled last September over the floor mats.

"The sticking accelerator pedal recall is separate from the on-going recall of Toyota and Lexus vehicles to reduce the risk of pedal entrapment by incorrect or out of place accessory floor mats," the press release said. "Approximately 1.7 million Toyota Division vehicles are subject to both separate recall actions."

I have a hard time believing that they have two separate problems which both cause problems with the pedal. That just seems strange. My bet is that what they thought were floor mat problems earlier, are really computer, etc..., or vice versa.

wait when is this going into effect, you can probably get a good deal on a toyota before they halt production?

This could happen with any model of car nowadays due to the stupid 'fly by wire' tech in all the cars now that just makes them impossibly expensive to fix when they break.

What the fuck was wrong with a throttle cable ?

i own a honda, toyota ( 2008 Sequoia ), and dodge currently. Have owned ford and chevy as well.

All I can say is, no matter what.. my toyota has been light years ahead of the others with overall quality and service. Lots of brands end up having recalls. If this is related to the floor mat issue, then this is the first major problem I have ever heard of with toyota in general.

I agree, I have a Toyota and a Honda and have never had a problem with them. I'm all for buying American made, if it's quality. I own a Ford f-150 and it's great. But other American made models I've owned have all sucked majorly. Which is too bad, because I'd much rather buy a quality American made car.

I had a 97 Honda and when it was a year or so old it got recalled. The put a pin in the floor and a metal grommet in the drivers side floor mat because it could potentially slide and interfere with the pedals. Maybe they shoulda told Toyota.

To all affiliates who are about to die in horrible horrible accidents while driving Lexusesses send me the details for all your profitable campaigns before you ram into the back of an 18 wheeler. I'll set them all up again and donate the money to Haiti, do something decent for once in your life!

Nobody buyin' it? Maybe I'll try over in Wagenheim's hood.

I just saw on the news that it's definitely NOT a floormat/pedal issue, but a computer issue. A few of the 911 calls that came in from people before they died stated that the pedal was moving up and down, but didn't do anything.

People have been assuming it was a computer issue for a while now and Toyota just ignored it, blaming the floor mats and pedals... The whole reason they suspended sales is because they don't know how to fix the computer issue yet.

P.S. Do these cars not have hand brakes ???
