Well, your wrong actually. Geography is more of an all encompassing term, eg:

Whilst Geology is a much narrower field, studying the science behind physical matter and energy.
I did Geography at school, and we did learn about Glaciers, Rocks, Rivers, Volcano's etc. We also learned about countries, where they are, cultures and so on.
This thread however is idiotic in itself. I don't think Americans in general are any more stupid or smarter than the rest of the world. Every single country in the world has stupid people and vice-versa... end of discussion.
And intelligence has nothing to do with how advanced a civilisation is, how big their economy is, or how amazing their universities are. Some of the most groundbreaking scientists in the world have came from countries with a very low education budget and very little in the support of science.
Intelligence comes from a persons desire to learn, their upbringing, and possibly a genetic pre-disposition.

The same people that are in charge of public education are going to be in charge of medical and dental as well.

I'm an American who got the travel bug early in life, married a Brit (although we settled in the USA) and realized eventually how freaking idiotic my home state in the south was. I mean wow... Most of the Southern USA has a lot in common with, or is even worse than the fools on the film at the top of this thread... It's really true. I know because my entire family and all their neighbors would watch that film and wonder what we're talking about here at all...
The thing that strikes me about the lack of smarts on this continent is how determined it is by our commercialism. It's as if the corporations are behind some conspiracy to make us dumber and therefore buy more of their crap. :xmas-smiley-016:
When I lived in London for a bit around 2000, there was not a single store I could have walked into where some employee would come up to me and try to sell me anything... Quite the opposite, I'd have to flag them down or catch them unaware just to get some service. Most of northern Europe is like this.
Telemarketers and Junk mail are unheard of there... The law of the land was common courtesy and non-pushiness. Business simply wasn't allowed to inconvenience you... Smart people really wouldn't go back to shop there if they do! And most people there are smart. God I miss those days.
And don't get me started on healthcare... What we have here in the USA is so unbelievably primitive compared to the UK offerings that I seriously consider flying over there every single time someone in my family needs medical help! We simply don't get the good drugs here, just the profitable ones. You can thank big pharma for that. :costumed-smiley-013
So in my humble opinion it is the heinous corporation, and its' close ties to our politicians here in the USA that is the real difference. I mean c'mon, when a human kills another, they go to jail or get the needle... But when a corporation kills thousands of us? They just get a fine... And then their PR guy spins it to appeal to the public and their stock soars. Both are legal entities here, yet look at how differently they are treated!
How does this monopolization tie into our IQ level? It's simple psychology. We are so bombarded with sales pitches here 24/7 that we have evolved a culture of commercialism, debt acceptance, and other subservience to the point where we are only really learning what they want us to.:bowdown: To buy shit.
Most Americans just don't know that we're not really free here. If they weren't so irrationally proud of their freedom and bothered to get a passport, they'd see that we're not the biggest, (by FAR) not the richest, (unless you count negative cash) and certainly not the smartest, (that would be China, pumping out 25 ph.ds for every one of ours!) oh, and most especially not the most free...
