I'm coming out the closet - FUCKING HUMBUG

No need we already knew you're gay since you're posting on a gay webmaster forum.

No doubt, of course I like to see family - that aspect is cool about christmas. My gripe is that as a society we've decided we need christmas as an excuse to do this once a year.

To translate for you christmas lovers...why not pretend it's christmas every day? Why be nice and thoughtful and giving just once a year? Treat every day like it's something special, instead of just Dec 25.

For me I personally like Christmas just because of the mood/feeling; I know, a gay statement, but like poster above me mentions, this is a gay webmaster forum.

Goddamnit, I thought one of you queens were finally coming out on wickedfire.

This!

I love Christmas. I don't have a single present under the tree for me, but I've had a great time picking out just the right thing for family members and my two little men. We leave cookies out for Santa and I'll need to buy some giant carrots for the reindeer. I also love Christmas because I'm a dork and like singing Christmas carols. You can't really enjoy that as much in June or March, you know?

Plus, as a teacher, the holidays translate to two weeks off without the sweltering summer heat, so I'm always up for that!

I try and enjoy it, but thanksgiving an christmas aren't what they used to be. It was a lot funner when i was young and poor. If my family could cook or i'd remember to do my shopping in November i don't think it'll bother me so much.

Even tho my family doesn't celebrate xmas, i dont think it's that bad. It's a good excuse to get the whole family together and share a few laughs. it's one of those holidays where practically no one is working (except us ;-) ) so there's no excuse like " I need those time and a half hours".

I've been to a few of my buddy's christmas get-togethers, and it was def a blast. Tho I was like 7 at the time.

I do however share the same views as some other posters about gift giving tho... shit requires too much thinking that I'd rather use for making $$

I don't need some holiday based on a fairy tale to make me act nice, smile, be pleasant, share, or give to people.

I do that shit every day, yet all the christians I know think I'm evil because I'm agnostic (they generally associate agnosticism with atheism which they somehow associate with the devil). They also think I'm a scrooge because I don't accept gifts or recognize christmas. I tell them if they *have* to spend money on me, make a donation to the leukemia and lymphoma society on my behalf and have a card sent to me. Then they say "ok, but really...what should I get you?" So meanwhile they are spending money on superficial gifts to give to friends and family - not because they really want to, but because it's christmas and that's just what you do on christmas. And they still think I'm the one who needs saving.

Im not here to change your mind. Im just saying, it is a really nice time of year compared to any other. What I do not like is that people take it for granted to be good at only this time of the year that pisses me off. The rest of the year they are normal retards. I agree that religion has its cons but we are not asking you to celebrate the birth of Christ. There are tons of people who dont give two cents for religion but they sure brighten up with holiday cheer. Hypocritical? Maybe! But it sure serves its purpose.

Did y'all know in 350 AD, Pope Julius I declared that Christ’s birth would be celebrated on December 25. He was trying to make it as painless as possible for pagan Romans (who remained a majority at that time) to convert to Christianity. My 2nd question is, why should we listen to a Pope?

I'm fine with christmas until I turn on the TV.

I'm so fucking tired of hearing christmas songs repurposed as corporate jingles, all these piece of shit made for TV movies that pander to idiots, and worst of all I'm tired of Christians going way out of their way to be offended.

I also hate trying to come up with something to buy for my Dad....
