I'm Going To Monetize ~600 Domains. Any Advice?

So my boss has been sitting on about 600 domains for years. He doesn't do anything with them but park them which makes him about $40/month. He has some gems, some porn related domains, and some that are just plain crap. I told him that I could build them out for him using wordpress and throwing Adsense on there.

Anyway he said he'll pay for any marketing I need and he'll give me 10% of the gross income. My thoughts are to build out 1-2 sites/week and then have an SEO in Phillipines or India do manual linkbuilding in addition to some scheduled Xrumer blasts.

Do you guys have an suggestions for me regarding time management, SEO strategy/services, or even the deal we made on how I get paid (too little?)

Lastly, how the heck do I monetize the porn domains? Should I just build 'em out and flip 'em? Also, many of the domains are 3-4 years old so I'm hoping that will make my job easier.
 


all that work and you only get a nominal 10% ?? hell, at 1-2 sites a week that'll take you years to finish this project. maybe by that time you'll be the boss and you'll have someone to build the sites out for ya
 
Not worth it at all lol but you have a smart boss for trying to exploit you that way and make you seem like you're loving your servitude.

"I have a pile of shit costing me tons in renewals, monetize it and take 10%"...

^ You're better off trying to monetize offers for 75% on digi networks or approaching domainers yourself with a proposal. Huge risk in my eyes, 600 domains. MAYBE go through them and pick 5-10 that get tons of direct search on good keys, and tell him no less than 50%. If he doesn't take it he's greedy (you knew that already). I would actually enjoy being in your shoes, get to dangle carrots in front of your boss now and play w/him, don't forget these are costing him tons annually.

Spend $10 on a domain and keep 100%.
 
Get yourself a copy of WPRobot and/or Auction2Post, you'll be able to roll out 2 or 3 sites per day rather than per week.

Just slap some quick AdSense in there to start with and once you see which sites are gaining some traction, then you can start looking for ways to better monetize.

10% is too low IMO - worst case scenario... 600 sites all making $1 per day with AdSense (shitload of work and months to set up) makes you $60 per day. This a good enough returm for you? Your call.

just kindly explain to him the actual depth of this project and the time it would take to make it worth your while (which is never at 10%)
 
Yeah 10% is definitely small considering how much money I could (potentially) make for him. Keep in mind though that he'll be paying me a salary for this as well and I can do it during work hours.
 
Pick out the 10 best domains (tell him you want to do a small test first )that will be easiest to get going and concentrate on them. Once he sees the increase in revenue on those, negotiate better terms and convince him to drop the shitty ones you can't work with. I only recommend that since you can essentially double dip and do this while you're at work getting a salary. Otherwise even that wouldn't be worth it.

Personally, I prefer to work on projects where I get 100% of gross income... but I guess I'm just "greedy"

The blogfarm idea is great if you could get many of them on different IPs though...
 
I agree that this situation isn't in my favor however I'm definitely going to make sure I get more out of this. I plan on having him finance my PPC education on Facebook and POF and have him pay for me to learn PPV as well. The new knowledge will help me to run campaigns on my own outside of work.

Thanks for the WPRobot suggestion, I'm going to have him buy it (using my affiliate link of course.) As far as Adsense goes, is it a bad idea to use Adsense along with WPRobot? There's potential to get the Adsense account banned this way right?
 
By the way, how does Adsense for Domains work? I've never actually seen a parked site with Adsense show up in the SERP's. Is it just designed to monetize type in traffic?
 
you set an A name and CNAME record on the domain to googles servers and BLAM, thats all u gotta do.

google will throw up relevant ads on the domain and you get paid for the impressions/clicks to them.

i've seen a few adsense for domain sites show up on the SERPs on aged domains that had been around for 3-4 years.
