Inception - Complete mindfuck of a film

If you havn't seen it, don't scrol down.........
SPOILERS SPOLERS SPOILERS

Read great Inception theory that makes a lot of sense. Have to see it again to confirm but:
Remember how saito touched cobb's totem at the beginning of the movie? that is an absolute no as per the rules..

the ultimate architect was saito.

I think that Cobb pulled the mission off for Saito way before we see the mission take place in the movie. Saito isn't powerful enough to REALLY make the charges against Cobb drop, but he CAN hook Cobb up to a machine and create the world of Cobb's dream and make sure that Cobb goes through a bunch of things and eventually end up in limbo - thus living his "life" with his kids. It gives more reason to why Saito wanted to be there - because he was the mastermind and true architect behind it all.

how could we miss this....the end was just a recreation from his memory because his kids were wearing the same clothes and in the exact same position/doing same thing that they were always shown doing from his memory during the movie.

FACT:

1)The movie started off in Saito's limbo, then moved to Saito's dream.

2)Saito happened to magically be there to rescue Cobb from his dreamlike chase in Africa (the anonymous agents chasing him, the narrow hallway - come on people).

3)Saito was seen handling Cobb's totem (his top).

4)Saito walked in on Cobb as he was spinning his totem prior to their mission. We never saw if the top would have kept spinning or not. This is HUGE! I don't know why more people aren't talking about this.

Spoliers

Also, the spinning top is irrelevant at the end of the movie. Saito touched Cobb's totem, so now Saito's subconscious mind can recreate the totem in the dream and force it to either fall or keep spinning. This is the whole reason why they weren't allowed to touch each other's totem, cause then the person controlling the dream will subconsciously replicate the totem exactly the same.

also, a few clues that cobb is dreaming at the end with the kids. the kids look exact same, same clothes when he see them at the end:

3. When Cobb talks to his children on the phone the first time (after the initial botched extraction), his daughter sounds like she's a teenager ("Grandma says you're not coming back.") That same scene he tests the top while holding his gun near his head. The top topples, indicating reality.

on IMDB cast, there's *4* credits for Cobbs' kids:
Claire Geare ... Phillipa (3 years)
Magnus Nolan ... James (20 months)
Taylor Geare ... Phillipa (5 years)
Johnathan Geare ... James (3 years)

Inception (2010) - Full cast and crew

now i hear on other forums that IMDB doesnt exactly mean it came from producers but if it did.. why would they have the age after each name? it is common to have more than 1 child actor playing a role for child-labour laws but who felt the need to tag on their age after each kids name?

i'm getting no work done today

One other rumor going around is that Cobb has been in a dream this whole time, and that the inception was actually done on him to get him out of the dream levels into reality. That Mal, when she jumped actually kicked herself back to reality. But Cobb has stayed back and has been living in a dream level ever since. Remember at the start when Cobb told Mal to sit in the chair so he can hang down it, but she let go of it, probably hoping it would give him a kick, but it didn't since the chair got stuck.
Also, Mal and Saito kept repeating the same thing " take a leap of faith". It's not a coincidence that they both used that phrase.

If you search the web, there are even better discussions to go along with the fact that Cobb was actually incepted.

I thought the original Matrix was one of the best films ever made so if this is half as good it should be a good watch.

Never thought of that.

Yeah, most of my theories I've nicked from around the net but the once I actually noticed in the cinema myself is Saito saying 'take a leap of faith' about he could rescue cobb and Mal saying it when the died.

People can say that others are reading too much into it, but there's NO WAY that line is a coincidence and Nolan isn't trying to tell us something.

You guys are over-analyzing what is essentially a heist movie, which tries too hard to be philosophical. When you spend the first 45 minutes of a film explaining things over and over so the retarded "Summer Blockbuster" audience will understand what's happening, you failed already.

I was MUCH more excited about Inception when I first heard about it. It was originally supposed to be a horror movie, but movie executives thought it reminded them too much of the movie The Cell. Too bad. (At least that's the rumor I remember hearing a while back.)

It was a good movie (despite some terrible acting from the Juno girl... a robot could have done a better job), but definitely not worthy of all the hype and debate.

The hallway scene however, was worthy.

IMAX, got to see it in IMAX.

i am surprise that it only cost 200 mil to make this movie.

When I finished the movie it wasn't all that mindfucking per se.

But you start thinking more and more about it, and when you start reading all these theories on the internet, you realize that you have just been mindfucked.

gonna watch it tonight. its nolan + caprio so gotta watch it. Nolan is definately one of the finest directors of all times not just now. His imagination is atleast 5 years ahead. I love caprio in shutter island, so a double dose for me would be even better.

Just watched. Triple Mindfuck. What the fuck was that??? I got a headache.. Fuck you Nolan.

Actually I can never remember the start of a Dream.
Also, I used to experience that Kick very often.. WHen I am Jumping in my dream and I feel like falling.

Will see it in 3 weeks. Shutter Island was a mind fuck which I liked. Lets hope this one is going to be even better :)

Shutter Island was a mindfuck? Wow, I thought it was pretty poor. The first 30 minutes were good but after that it was fairly obvious what was going to happen.

Memento was awesome and definitely one of my favourites, guess I'll have to wait to DL this.
