Ok, I'll keep this simple and short...

One of my best buddies is trying to go to school out here in Phoenix... Right now he lives in San Diego. I told him he can crash with me while he is out here.

Obviously, I don't have enough income to support us both, or by all means I would, he's that good of a friend.

So, I've been helping him look for a temporary job, say from now until the end of the year, or somewhere around there. But this job market fucking blows...

He's a smart dude, and a hard worker, fuck he'd even work construction, but no one is hiring! Right now he works at a machine shop that makes aircraft parts for Boeing.

Anyways, he is good on a computer, but isn't quite as savvy as it takes to make some cash online.

I want to get him out here within a week, and I'm trying to help him find a way to keep himself afloat while he goes to school. School will be 6 weeks long.

On to my question... Can any of you think of anything I could put him to work on from home?

Are there any of you out there that could use someone for rinse and repeat type stuff online?

Think 6~ hours a day, mon-fri, for about six weeks, that equals minimum wage?

I'm stuck trying to figure something out, so I figured why not ask...

Give me some useful input here guys!

And thanks in advance

I dunno what your minimum wage is over there but at $7 5 days a week that's only like $1260...get him to write some content for people. Assuming $10 an article, that's only 126 articles, easy as pie if he can write and definitely won't take 180 hours.

If he's smart there are always writing jobs and blog comments and tedious tasks like that to be done. They don't require someone to be super IM savvy and if he proves himself he could bring in enough work to keep him busy.

Well, to be honest, I would do that m0rtal, but I am making nearly all my income from writing... lol

And I can still take on more work. So unless I suddenly get flooded with projects, that's not really a win win.

And minimum wage out here in AZ is $6.75 an hour.

That being said, $1200 a month is more than enough... He needs gas, food, smokes, and that's about it. I'll let him stay with me for free. Shit even something that he does less that brings him $700-$800 a month would be just fine.

He doesn't need much, just enough to get him to and from class and keep him fed...

Once school is over, he is sent on the road for 6 weeks, and is paid for that, and then he starts work. So just keeping him alive through school is what I need to help him do.

What else, aside from pure writing (articles, blogs, LP's and Sales Pages, shit like that), is commonly outsourced on the net, that doesn't take much specific technical knowledge? (like design, programming, etc)

I'll figure this out, I just need some ideas to bounce around in my head :)

He is a good writer though... At least from what i've seen... I'm not sure how he would fare at writing content and articles, but he has superb grammar and reading/writing skills...

Anyways...

If he lives on ramen and tuna for those 6 weeks he doesn't need that much money.

AMagz - I didn't see that post until after I made mine... So thanks, I'll go check that out...

And rockhard - We already live on Ramen and Tuna (and Macaroni... You can buy noodle shells and just melt velveeta and milk in them... Cheaper and they taste better!)... lol

But basically, fast food, gas, and a pack of smokes a day...

Ah didn't notice that over there in your sig. You wouldn't have to give him your clients though just send him over to dp (though he'll probably have to write for $5 a pop over there)

Here's another idea, check the gigs section of craigslist. For example I know you said he's not thaaaaat computer savvy but sometimes people post stupid shit there like help me install my printer $50, there's also a few sections there...like I mean here's a job a monkey could do: HIRING FOR DATA ENTRY- LONG HRS- LOW PAY- GREAT OPPURTUNITY

or: Power Broom Synthetic Grass LOL

Writer Wanted For Some Ebooks

bunch of gigs in the labor section: phoenix labor gigs classifieds - craigslist

Ditch the cigs. that's time wasted that he/you could be banking +less health bills down the line :bigear:

Hmm... That is true... I definitely don't write for DP... lol

So maybe that would be something worthwhile to try...

As for Craigslist, I'm all on that shit like white on rice! I actually responded to the "Ebook" ad late last night... I check Craigslist as often as I do WF and Myspace! lol

Current FF Tabs from left to right: WF - Ewealth - Myspace - WF Again - Paypal - Craigslist

They are basically the defaults... lol

But yea, Craigslist gigs can be good for some quick cash, I just hate the uncertainty of them... Like, I wouldn't want to get him out here, 400 miles away from where he currently calls home, without knowing for sure that he has something to make him some steady cash...

Oh, and that BH Forum post? What a killer idea...!

I'm not kidding... lol
I can twist that so many ways... So thanks a ton for that one AMagz!

Skrilla - Dude, I'm so broke, I don't even HAVE medical bills.

I have Medical Credit.

Which means unpaid visits to the ER... : x
lol

Sometimes I wish I could afford fucking health insurance... Last time I needed something I went down into mexico to get it... And I also decided to buy some Viagra while I was at it, because I've ALWAYS wanted to try it.

They stopped me on my way back and sent me to secondary inspection... I had to explain the Viagra :(

But they let me keep it!! lol

Anyways, that's a whole different thread...

Not a problem! there's some other good ideas on that site as well, but that one seemed the easiest.

How about providing a social bookmarking service?

Could you elaborate?

I don't know much about social bookmarking, aside from a very vague understanding of what it is... And that even sucks... lol

And AMagz - If you have other ideas that you don't use yourself, please do share! Of course, PM'ing is always an option.... Just saying...
:)

So far that has been the coolest idea as of yet, just because of its simplicity... But I would love to hear more... And hell, maybe a few other people that are struggling to pay their bills can get a few ideas from some of the suggestions as well.

There's also the option of being a P.A. by distance.
Virtual Secretary or some nonsense title like that.
I'm a little skeptical because they all require an "admin fee" to join up (and so many fly by nighters pull that shit), but I know of a few people that do it (friends of friends) so there's got to be some real work in it somewhere.

Basically creating accounts at social bookmarking sites like digg and slashdot etc. and then bookmark peoples links there.
