Inter-Linking A Site Network

Didn't know quite where to post this, so I just posted it here. I'm currently in the process of building a site network, I am going to build it up to 10 sites on 10 different Class-C IP's and when most of the sites have been up and running for 4-5 months I am going to start progessively inter-linking them.

The way I thought about doing it was a simple one-way link through all the sites like:

1>2>3>4>5>6>7>8>9>10>1

(last site links back to 1st so all sites have a one way link to them)

I've never made a site network before and don't really know the best way too interlink them so I'm just looking for some advice really. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Read eli's bluehatseo posts on this matter. And skim through the ebook "revenge of the mininet".

But I suggest that you interlink them at random.

It was a great primer back in 2004, but it is WAY out of date now. (it had some good theories... I like The Matrix Method)

Is it even againts Google's TOS to inter-link your sites? They are not going to be spammy sites at all and they aren't even totally in the same niche, they cover a different area of quite a broad niche...

Totally depends on the sites in the network. If its a spam site network then interlinking gives you footprints so they can find the other spam sites easier. If its a clean quality network than keep the associations wide open. Either way interlinking amongst your own sites is certainly not against the guidelines. Take a look at cnet and lycos. They run huge networks in the same fashion.

So the question you have to ask yourself is, do you want google to know the other sites exist or do you want them to fly under the radar? If your sites are clean and of proportional quality than you should do a sitewide link on every page of every site in the network to all the other sites :) If you don't than you're really just hurting yourself out of free links by doing the matrix linking or Link A -> Link B strategy. If they are spammy sites on the other hand hide the footprints the best you can, so if one site gets banned the others won't collapse as well, at least not as easily.

I think I was up a couple days straight reading some of the posts on BluehatSEO a few months back. It was worth it. I got so many ideas from that and other thoughts from my own brainstorming that I havent even had time to implement 10% of my plans.
