And let's be real, Google isn't stupid either. So far they have far outdone M on anything online related. A simple "in order to use google search you must have firefox" would solve the problem in a jiffy. :)

Quoted for truth. Google isn't just going to sit around on the sidelines and let this happen.

Yea... That is exactly what Apple used to say, and IBM, and OS/2, and Linux, and Lotus 1-2-3, and Netscape, and US monopoly laws, and other video players, and ICQ, and Apache server, and Playstation, and some other email programs.

Thats a lot of corpses. Get real.

Has anyone actually downloaded ie8 Beta? i have and ive tested the in-private-browsing

and my tracking stats are recorded when i check them on two of my affiliate accounts i

dont do CPA though so i dont know how different it is as opposed to pharma (which is what i do)

im gonna do some test orders and ill get back to you guys although i know this is only the beta version its recording cookies and hits OK.

Most of the CPA networks' tracking is pretty fragile already. CNAME records would solve some of the problems with third party cookies but it doesn't appear the networks or advertisers are concerned with making tracking more robust.

Well, my network's going to be fine (I asked the tech), but most of the shit I push outside of it, especially the stuff I do for short periods, is mostly through CJ... So fuck it, maybe it's cookie stuffing time.

Spyderman: You can get script blockers, cookie & pop-up killers, and ad-blockers... but those are all things you've got to go out and install yourself. Which is maybe 10% of the 10% of the market that uses browsers other than IE.
The problem here is whether or not this feature is actually turned on by default.

keeper: You got some stats we can see for that? Because most of the computer nuff-nuffs I know just hit OK when XP (and now Vista) says "Hey, I got new shit to install. Restart me even though you're in the middle of a mid-term, or I'll cry and REALLY fuck up when you finally do reset."

no its not on by default you have to select it...

why dont you guys download ie8 and check it out yourself?

Don't some browsers offer this "feature" already?

Yes, including IE iirc, for years and years (back on IE 5 or so you just had to go into your security settings and set them at the highest -- no idea about more recent versions.)

For some reason it's a big deal now.

For years every non-trusted site that I surf has had cookies, JavaScript, ActiveX, and images blocked, and is blocked from seeing data like my IP and referrer.
