So which one of you bitches has one of those mobile internet plans?

You know, those little USB sticks you plug into your laptop that give you internet no matter where you are?

How much do one of those plans cost? How is the service while travelling?

iPhone tethering, I think I pay $25 a month...

It's pretty good when traveling at a high rate of speed and even works via bluetooth.

Wish I did this, but I forked out the cash for the usb verizon plan, Honestly I barely use it.

The service is fast and good, but I think theres like a 15-30GB limit, which can go fast if your streaming video(which I do a lot).

A lot of phones do tethering, sometimes is an extra $20 a months. $60/month is expensive if your not using it a lot, and the only time i use it, is airports and coffee shops that don't offer it free.

I can tether my Android Phones (tmo & VZW), and I've a VZW mifi. Mifi is handy, but I use phone tethering more often. More latency that way, but more convenient too.

I pay €50/month for a 40Mbps Vodafone plan with no download limit, although I can't get more than 20Mbps in most places.

Old thread.

I had one of these back in 2008 w. ATT.

It was $60 or $80 a month and I was limited to like 5gb a month and only worked where ATT was available, which was a lot of places.

I was tethering for free from my Note II on AT&T but they somehow caught on and sent me a strongly worded letter a few weeks ago saying they'd revoke my unlimited LTE data plan if they caught me using it again. Not sure why it took them over a year to catch on or what changed :(

I have a couple, it's awesome. Another provider in case my main net goes down. Also great for travel. Kicks ass if I need a quick different IP from my country. Also helps me cover my tracks where I need to. It's 1 eur/day and I fill it up whenever I need it.

I just had an Uber driver who tethered the laptop I had with me to his iPhone using T-Mobile "Personal Hotspot". Super fast. He said it was cheap.

Can you get one of these usb sticks that offer coverage in all of europe?

Most will roam no problem, but you'll likely be charged at a higher rate when you're abroad.

Most cost-effective way would be to buy an unlocked Huawei dongle (OEM for most MNOs solutions) and use a cheap MVNO SIM card depending on where you are - for instance GiffGaff in the UK (their traffic sits on the O2/Telefonicia network) sell 3GB for 12 quid, no contracts etc.

So this stuff works only when you're within your country (or zone), right? I mean, if you were to plug your laptop to your phone when you're on a trip in Argentina, it's probably going to cost you an arm and a leg.
