iPAd owners - feel like an idiot with the ipad2?

Link a brother up? How "recent"? I'm guessing those that bought them as Christmas gifts will be fucked but it doesn't hurt to ask.
I don't really see how anyone think's Apples release cycle is unfair. Do you really want apple to be selling a two year old product, then you'd be complaining that it's out dated. Another problem apple is having now is that there isn't THAT much more that they can add to it, to keep it in line with their idea of the perfect "user experience" system, and keeping it relatively cheap. So making it smaller and twice as fast is about all they could really do, and add a camera.
It's not really apple either, all electronics are usually topped and a new and better product is out within a few months...So to expect apple (or anyone) to wait more than an entire year before releasing an upgrade is crazy.
Another thing is apple is fairly consistent with their release cycles for products, some simple research will tell you when it should be coming out. iPad = march/april, iPhone=June/July, iPod = September, Desktops = October/November, Laptops Twice a year usually in spring and fall. Not many other companies have a release cycle this consistent.

OP, this is the primary reason I refuse to buy apple products PERIOD. You cannot upgrade them. Not yourself at least without totally voiding their warranty and all that BS.
I paid about $2k for:
- a 42 in tv (that was the bulk of the cost!)
- a serious, solid steel computer case
- a reliable motherboard, with two CPU slots
- CPU/Ram/Etc...
That was 3 years ago.
I bought quality parts. They have never broken down. Even if they did, I could replace any one of them in about a day or two for around $100.
Recently I upgraded to a new CPU + motherboard because I wanted more power. And I got it for a few hundred bucks.
If I was relying on an apple G4 or whatever they call their desktops these days... a new CPU + motherboard would necessitate me purchasing an entirely new computer essentially, and taking $4k out of my wallet.
I don't understand how anybody who seriously uses technology can buy apple. But to each their own.
(Now I know I might get flamed for "oh but what compared to the iphone 2 years ago? besides nothing? etc"... I don't care, I'm stubborn that way, a company like apple will never get my money)

This also works with kids' toys and paraphenalia. (cots, buggies, etc). I buy second hand from gumtree, and sell for a profit after 3 months of use on ebay.

Since this topic is on mobile devices...Which ones can you currently upgrade? Cause as far as I know none are upgradeable...
Apple has been doing that for years for most new releases since they don't release most products info til the day they're able to be purchased.
Exactly, anyone who needs the latest all the time has issues. I can't imagine the iPad is suddenly shit now the iPad 2 is out, because if it was, why did they buy it?
Being a new tech junky is idiotic. I have two 6 year old XP pcs and a 1.5 year old MacBook. They all work perfectly and don't require upgrading, tweaking or replacing. They likely won't for about 5 years, because they do everything I need them to quickly, efficiently and in the way I like.
Pointless replacement is pointless.
I wish I could do this, but especially when I sometimes spend 100 hours/week in front of my laptop/computer I figure it is worth wasting some money to have the very best model.
I'm perfectly happy spending $2,500+ every year and a half so that I have the very best for something that I use all the fucking time.
And the ability to output the screen to a high def TV, which would seal the deal for me. Allows it to be used for presentations, etc.
The front facing camera? meh.
Not that I own an iPad 1 or am planning on buying v2.

I use to feel the same way, and then I realized I had a stack of old computers ( cause I never sold them ) and finally turned an extra room in our house into my office with all of them old boxes and laptops. Funny thing is, I use the old boxes and laptops more then my newer macbook pro or newer setups and then I realized I was just wasting money on new shit.
Also, I have already worked out all the updates, bugs, etc on the old boxes and they run as tight and fast as the day I got them. Im sure at some point I will need to upgrade, but I look at the time saved, headache saved, and costs saved using those boxes another year or so and it just fits me personally. I couldnt tell you how many things wouldnt run right with Win7 or 64bit when i tried to upgrade to them.. which always puts me back to 32bit XP everytime. Same with OSX versions too.
I love the idea of having a new macbook pro or new whatever, but I know the 4-5 new benefits of having them seems like a waste of another 2-3k in my eyes.. but thats just me.
for $100 do you think it's worth getting an old and outdated and soon to be turtle slow (by iOS 6 for sure)
Im good with my iPad. I dont need that kind of light crap. As long as it does the same, i'll stick to it.
