I never understood why we track sex offenders publicly, but not murderers.

Convicted murderers are usually in prison for a good length of time, up to life in prison or are sentence to death.

Sex offenders are often released back into the public after 2, 3, 10, maybe 15 years, and statistically most are repeat offenders.

However these days soliciting a prostitute or public urination requires you to register as a sex offender in most states.
