IQ / Crush : Is MOBILE dead ?

Mobile is anything but going away, but there is going to be a transition period where shitty offers don't convert anymore, users can't be bothered to enter stuff in a form on a mobile phone, and scared of triggering payments with obscure details.

It'll all come together when the offers will be more mature. Be prepared then !

Very good points made by aim. True, and well said.

And as far as Elias and the YEP guy goes - they are simply awesome. They take care of their pubs like very, very few other networks do. I can assure you Elias didn't intend to spam by posting this. They don't have a need to pimp their network here.

I do also think we're gonna see some changes in the mobile offers. It is obvious that the current types of offers are not gonna last forever. But different mobile services will develop as more advanced phones become common household, and new ways of billing get implemented internationally.

I don't know about the US, but here we have plenty of public and commercial services (and products) that can be paid for simply by sending a text message with a code to a reserved phone number. Publishers could set up their own exclusive number, to which consumers could send a text message payment and pay for a product delivered to their door - or for a service.

There is no need to send shipping address, etc. as the carrier already has the information. Billing is quick and orders can be made from anywhere.

I think we've only seen the tip of the iceberg so far. Google and FB on the other hand may open up more once the offers become more legit. You can't really blame them for hitting the current mobile offers hard. Dumb teens never read the TOS and think everything is free. Parents are left with rebills on their cellphone bills and get pissed at the ad networks for allowing it.

But again - I can surely recommend YEP to people here on Wickedfire. If you're not signed up yet - do yourself the favor. You're in for a treat. Heck, sign up under my aff. link on my blog if you like.. ;)

(Btw, when it comes to running mobile - props also go to Mike at Firelead for providing some fine, converting mobile offers and truly great and personal service)

Yeah man here in North America we're so far behind with mobile its incredible.. I've seen a documentary about Japan and they can buy practically anything with their cell...dial the # on the softdrink machine and bingo you're charged on your cell..out comes your drink

I have to say Yep! is definitely my favorite network for the following reasons.

1. Speed, the tracking is instant, the response time by an AM is amazing and the pay can be daily if you want.

2. The offers convert well and make me money.

For being a newbie at AM that's pretty much does it for me. I'm less than a month old at this and having great success. If it wasn't for Yep! that might not be the case.

I'm very eager to see what new offers they will be having. I can't stand not dealing with instant tracking systems after working with Yep!

Okok. Yep! is good. Can everyone hop off their cock for a second though? I seem to recall a more significant question being in there...

I don't think mobile is dead but I think that the offers as we know them are on the decline. People are getting wise to the fact they are going to be charged if they enter their cell phone number online. I think the last kind of offer in this same vein that can work is going to have to be incentivized, enter your # to win something big. After that the offers are going to have to change to provide value.

I do agree that when more and more people are on smartphones like iphones, there wil be mobile offers to cater to those phones

The other week, I was in a pub for some delicious wings, and these girls that didn't even work at the bar (they worked for Coors beer company) we're passing out laminated pamphlets with a submit this pin to win a tv set etc..... I told her it was a scam, and they ended up bringing me and my buds a ice cooler with free beer. I still don't know for what other reason she would of done that except for me to keep my mouth shut.

A lot of people were doing it however, and the girls were hot. All this to say, some big companies are still testing mobile with hot chicks in pubs, and based on my observation.. it converted well lol..

I'm pretty interested to hear if people think using a cell phone as a payment device like in Japan as someone mentioned earlier will become more commonplace here, or if we will continue to just use credit cards since the infrastructure is much wider here than in many other countries.

I used to do a ton of mobile, but as everyone knows, it's dying. I am however excited to hear that there may be a new wave coming sometime in the future.

that probably wasnt a paid subscription service, the girls were probably just 1/2 retarded.

A lot of legit companies use text message marketing, but not as paid subscription services.

Yep is one of my favorite networks and Elias will bend over backward to help his pubs. He's been on here for a while and I haven't seen him use this forum for self promotion but rather he chimes in on relevant topics he knows about (mobile) and helps out. This post did come off a little as self promotion but I don't' think that was his intent based on knowing him and the network for a while now and seeing them actively participate and help out in this forum. I think he was just trying to have a discussion on mobile stuff slowing down a bit and went off on a tangent a bit about his own business.

the Big L (Elias) has paid me 3x /week on direct wires- YEP sets the standard as far as a kick-ass networks go..

Regarding your question- It's just going to become harder- Which means the people who make it are going to reap all the profits while the rest die off.

Mobile definitely isn't dead, it's just heading in a new direction. With all the iPhone shit out there (the iFart app pulls in something like 10K daily), there has to be room for another type of rebill (i.e. join the "app" club, first app free, rebill for $20/month etc).

Even the guy who "jailbroke" the iPhone (Jay Thompson "Saurik") is running ads on his Cydia application to earn a bit of income for his work. There are alot of free iPhone apps running Adsense on them.

Even if YEP! is an amazing network for some of you guys, this thread is nothing more than a self promo whore thread and pointless. Post deleted and warning issued. End of story, don't do it again.
